Heard the heartbeat today…nice and strong at 10 1/2 weeks
Names so far:
Nathan
Nicolas
Julia
Josephine
I have rejected by husband’s suggestions, Harry and Henry, already. Although I do like the reactions when I tell people I am thinking of naming the baby Shasta or Starla…
I’d forgotton about this thread…
Well we got an early Christmas present - turns out our baby has inherited her mother’s impatience genes and decided to put in an early appearance. Six weeks early!!! We’re calling her Janel, and the unanimous opinion is that she is gorgeous - blond haired and blue eyed!!
Being so early, she has had her fair share of complications and is still struggling to get enough food in her. We’ve just got out of hospital for the second (and hopefully last for a little while at least) time, and are looking forward to a real family Christmas!!
Details and photos on our blog.
Grim
Oh congratulations Grim! She’s beautiful!
I’m about 12 and a half weeks right now. We go for our first ultrasound tomorrow. Despite about 10 peesticks, a bloodtest, incredibly sore boobs, and my doctor telling me that my uterus is the right size for 12 weeks, I am still not completely convinced that I’m actually pregnant. Hopefully actually seeing a baby in there tomorrow will help convince me it’s for real. Can’t wait!!
Congrats and good luck! I guess I can forgive you for not taking my place in the Dip game.
Two thoughts:
What’s wrong with sex as a hobby? Can’t imagine a better one.
With three kids, you won’t need a hobby!
She’s beautiful! Mine will be about 8 months old next year at this time, so it’s nice to see how big she’ll be.
It’s so funny how similar your old Pooh looks compared to mine. I got it 35 years ago when I was born and it looks exactly the same as yours–a little squished and only has the eyes. I just found it again recently at my mothers after not seeing it since I was a child and my first thought was, “I thought he was bigger!”
I’m passing it along to my daughter and since we’ve chosen Pooh for the nursery theme, he will fit in nicely.
It will - it was an awesome experience…
My parents got my Pooh at Sears. I don’t let Anya play with it, but then again, if it could make it through my childhood, Pooh can handle anything!
I took a gander on eBay, and found what the Pooh used to look like. The one on the left. My poor Pooh!
Um, how are you still fitting into your pants? I was into maternity by then, even though it was my first. Nothing like a lack of a waist and not being able to poo to really sink pregnancy home to a gal…
And don’t forget the zits and vomiting!!
I’m 10 1/2 and am in stretchy clothes already. Luckily, I rarely leave the house so the one pair of jeans that still fit are still working for me. I got a pair of those maternity jeans, but they kept falling down.
Okay, so can someone tell me how long the boobs are gonna be sore? ElzaHub tried to touch them yesterday and I nearly through him down the basement stairs. These suckers HURT.
E.
threw, even :smack: .
Yeah, they’re pretty tight, but I know it’s mostly bloating right now so I’m trying to hold out til after Christmas. I’m glad to hear that though, I’ve felt like some kind of massive elephantine freak! Everything I’ve read has said I wouldn’t start showing until 4 or 5 months, but my pants have been tight since about 8 weeks.
And Elza, if it makes you feel better, my boobs were so sore from about 5 weeks on that I cried about 4 times a day when something would just brush up against them, but the last couple of weeks has been gradually much, much better. Still tender, but no more agony. The zits and exhaustion are getting a lot better too.
My ultrasound went great! Baby was wiggling around all over the place, and we got a couple of really cute pictures. What a neat, neat, neat experience.
The hurting means they’re growing! Mine hurt for the first 10 weeks (approx.). I’m almost 24 weeks now and I went from a 34B to a 36D! Mr. Bunny is very happy. I’m always catching him leering at me. They don’t hurt at all anymore, so he can touch them now.
At about 10 weeks or so, I bought a couple of pairs of pants a couple of sizes too big, which I can also wear after the baby (hopefully not for TOO long) and some stretchy stuff, too.
Even some maternity pants are uncomfortable for me right now. Plus, I have to find a good waist style I like. My current favorite is the full panel. The under the belly ones give my a droopy ass.
My boobs were tender and my nipples outrageously sensitive until about 12 weeks. Hubby couldn’t touch them. Now he can, but he doesn’t get much of a chance. I have zero interest in sex. My boobs haven’t really grown, but they were very firm for quite some time. Now they just seem a little fuller.
I’m 21 weeks, and only started wearing real maternity pants within the last 2 weeks. I was wearing a pair of Hubby’s khakis (34" waist) and the pants I bought one size up (with a partial elastic waist) exclusively since like 13 weeks. Talk about suck - I had exactly three pairs of pants (including some generously-sized jeans) I could wear for almost three months! The maternity pants are still too big, but nothing else will fit.
Yeah, my big pants have about a week left and I’ve got to buy more maternity pants. I like JCPenney’s full panel jeans and cotton pants. They come in different lengths, too. I wear mediums right now, but by the end of the day I’m bloated and they feel uncomfortable, so I’ve got to move up to large soon. Large is a little loose right now, but they won’t be in a week or so. It seems like my closet has a revolving door on it. I’ve had to retire clothes and bring more in for a couple of months now. I just hope I’ll see my smaller clothes again.
Just seeing how everyone’s doing! First midwife appointment is on Monday, and I can’t wait! We told all of our family about the pregnancy on Christmas Eve and everyone was suitably happy (including my FIL, who I was worried about). My family is thrilled (and of course, providing lots and lots of unecessary advice).
On the pregnancy front, I’m EXHAUSTED. I am tired as hell. But I’m waking up at 7:30-8:00 every morning like clockwork, and I’ve had the whole week off from work, so there’s no reason for it. Sleep is good, though. The boobs still hurt, but I’m getting used to it - I think I’m going to have to start sleeping in my bra because they hurt less when I have a bra on. Lots of peeing. No noticeable m/s, which is good - just a little underlying nausea, but nothing that’s too terribly bothersome. I hope it stays away - I’m 7 weeks today, so hopefully, that means I won’t get hit with bad m/s.
How’s everyone else doing?
Glad to hear the news went over well! Isn’t it fun to have everyone excited along with you?
Definitely try sleeping in the bra - try a nice soft sports bra if you have one. Makes a big difference, I found.
I’m 15 weeks today, and finally caved and bought some maternity pants. Much more comfortable!
Cheers with sparkling grape juice to all of you, and may this very exciting coming new year bring all the happiness your heart can hold.
Well, I’m totally 100% into maternity clothes now. I’ll be 24 weeks on Tuesday, and regular shirts just aren’t long enough anymore. Hubby and I went shopping yesterday for something completely different, and ended up in a maternity clothing store at the mall. I was in heaven! All sorts of cute things that FIT! We bought six tops and spent $108 (including tax). I figure I’m OK on pants for now - nobody notices if you wear those more than once a week (at least, the men I work with don’t). I had actually ordered some things from www.motherhood.com a couple of days prior, so I’ll have even more cute stuff to wear.
I’m still wearing my normal shoes, and my wedding rings still fit. I have my next appointment on Thursday. These are the really easy ones - they weigh me and take my BP, have me pee in a cup, ask if I have any questions, listen to the heartbeat, measure my belly, and send me on my way. They are the fastest appointments ever.
Elret, I’ll try the sports bra thing! I have a very comfortable, if HUGE, bra (I swear, I’ve already gone up a cup size), but I need a sports bra, too.
Avarie, Old Navy has some adorable pants, too, if you need more. I’ve been looking at their website.
So I spoke too soon on the morning sickness…I think it pretty much hit with a vengeance yesterday. I’ve been chewing on ginger Altoids and drinking gingerale. I can’t go more than 2-3 hours without eating, which is going to make work lots and lots of fun! I’m probably telling them on Tuesday, assuming all goes well tomorrow at my appt. It’s early, but we’re a close office, and my boss is fantastic. She was really great when I had my miscarriage back in September (and I’d only been working there three weeks at the time), so I’m not too concerned. Thank goodness I work for a very family-friendly organization.
