Congratulations! I rarely have time to read the board anymore since I had my September babe, and I was so happy to read your news!
Congrats inkleberry and Dr Love Gun!
This one has a lot to live up to, since his/her older brother became known as tinkleberry and now has a reputation for eating wood.
You and your lovely hubby are going to have your hands full!
Yay! The goat/hamster’s gonna have a little…um…well, newborns are kinda grub-like, but that sounds nasty…
oh, well.
Congratulations on your grub-to-be!
Yep.
We seriously need to change the kid’s nickname. His defining feature is no longer pee.
And I was just getting used to sleeping again. Oh well.
I swear I’ll stay pregnant forever if I never have to change a litter box again!
Actually, that’s not true - we just recently bought the electric automatic cat box, and it’s been a life- and floor-saver. My cat used to pee and poop *once * in the box and refuse to use it any more. So she’d go on the floor in the laundry room. Hubby was good about picking up the poop, but he’d just put paper towels over the pee (which she would then pee on again). We used his birthday money from his parents for the Littermaid. The cat hasn’t peed on the floor ONCE in the last two weeks! We’re ecstatic.
HOW THE F*CK DID I MISS THIS?
Congrats, Inky! We’re due exactly a month apart!
Woohoo! Little Tinkleberry will have a new toy to drag around by the head!

Consider yourselves lucky you don’t have my old cat, Oliver, who took dumps so large he BROKE the littermaid motor!

Our daughter was born Oct 16 (5 weeks early, so I can totally relate to grimpixe’s experiences with her daughter’s eating issues, hospital visits, etc). I was induced because of fears of toxemia, so it was a tough time for us all, but definitely worth it!
She was 5 pounds at birth, went down to 4 1/2 pounds, and is now a bouncing healthy 10.75 pounds.
For almost 2 whole months after she was born, I got away with not emptying the cat’s litter box … finally one day my husband said “Uh, you can do that now you know!”. DAMN!!!
A recent picture of our beautiful Sophia
What a sweetie Congratulations! I have that same outfit for Lauren in a different colour, and I think we have the same sheets too!
How long was she in the hospital? I’m so glad to hear she’s healthy and gaining now!
Thanks Cyros … all is going well now.
She was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks (I was in there for 10 days total) … it was such a hard, weird twilight-zoney kind of time for both me and McDeath_the_Mad … arguing with ICN nurses, worrying about our baby, serious sleep-deprivation, stress … Here is a picture of her at her lowest weight: Sophia was healthy but she didn’t know how to eat so she was feeding through a tube. Now she’s an expert!
Looking back at it now, I realize how much I missed being able to show her off to visitors - we really missed out on people stopping by with gifts, flowers, balloons, etc and having pictures taken in our room … we were in such a weird state of mind and no-one really knew how to handle it, so we had a few family members come by, but since she was in the Intensive Care Nursery the whole time, no-one could hold her or anything … it was kind of sad.
BUT … by the time we brought her home, we were SO comfortable with taking care of her - we learned a lot from those sometimes VERY pushy ICN nurses - and she was on a regular schedule too, so there were a couple of pluses to our situation.
It all worked out just fine … but if we have another baby, I hope it all goes a bit more “by the book”.
Oooo Congrats to all the new moms! I haven’t been here too much lately. My little one keeps me real busy. I can’t believe he’s four months now!
Stainz , Sophia is just gorgeous. Thank goodness she’s alright now! She looks the picture of health.
I haven’t been in this thread before, so maybe this isn’t the place, but I wanted to share the news I got last night. My daughter called to tell me I’m to be a grampa for the second time on Sunday unless she goes into labor on her own before then. The planets are all lined up (or maybe the doc has an early tee-time, however it works) and on Sunday they will induce Serenity to join her big brother and the rest of us waiting out here. So I have that to look forward to.
Congrats grampa!
Shana - my little one still sleeps a LOT so she is giving me lots of time to do stuff … I am sure soon though she will need much more entertaining, so I’m enjoying these quiet times while they last.
Having become a father last Friday the 13th (of all days!) I can attest that a week old baby can’t compete with a quartet of cooped up cats for smell.
Friday the 13th lived up to its devilish reputation, mother got up at about 5ish in the morning, intending to deliver without support from from friends or family as she had done twice before. The baby unfortunately decided to sit as I had done, with her head facing forwards instead of at Mummy’s back and got stuck at 4cm dilated IIRC. So poor ba had her head shoved back inside and her Mum got half an epidural to tide her over followed by an attempt to suck baby out the a c-section (a close friend to hold her hand) and a spinal block.
Baby (first name Rosaline after the friend who accompanied her Mum) was born with a little stork mark on her forehead from being pressed up against Mum’s pubic bone but no other signs of ill health.
A week and a day old she’s doing well, huffling, puffling (and peeing on Daddy ) A touch of oral thrush is putting her off her food a little bit but otherwise there have been no hiccups. It felt surreal holding her for the first time but as I told her Mum, its not felt wrong in all the time I’ve held her in my arms
Pushkin-congrats!
So glad your little one arrived safe and well.
Congratulations Pushkin! Post a pic or two?
Ours was sunny-side-up too and came out looking like she’d been in a fight - she even had a black eye.
I know they say you can’t remember pain, but I will never forget the agony of the ‘back labour’ … WITHOUT an epidural … ugh …
