Time to play with the Akinator again...Can you stump it?

It did not get The Laughing Cow from the cheese.

It got Margaret White (Carrie’s mom) after two wrong guesses. That one had only been played 135 times–by far the lowest of anything I’ve tried.

Got Hal Incandenza from Infinite Jest (took two guesses though, guessed Holden Caulfield first).

Very creepy to see it go from some random question to “Does your character play tennis?”.

It got the character Harry Flashman in one guess, but not his author, George MacDonald Fraser (guessed Fleming, Burgess, and Tolkien, I quit at 63 questions). Looks like authors are not all that well done.

It did get the game characters Moria Brown (Fallout 3) and Claptrap (Borderlands) quickly. It got Sid Meier, the game designer, after guessing Will Wright.

Took 50 plus questions to get Andre the Giant. Fun program.

Got Rafik Hariri pretty quick - I knew it was on the right track when it asked if he was Lebanese.

I stumped it on Slowbeef (the LPer), it got really close though, it tried both Diabetus (his usual partner) and Chip Cheezum.

Stumped it with Odo Proudfoot from the Lord of the Rings. Somewhere along the line it guessed Everard Proudfoot, which was the composite character from the movie Fellowship of the Ring, despite the fact that I had told it my character was not in a movie.

I stumped it. After 79 questions, it couldn’t get Shawn Colvin. She was my one and only attempt at this (because it took forever!). It once guessed Suzanne Vega, and it had Mary Chapin Carpenter on a list of wait-maybe-it’s-these-people, but I win I guess. Poor Shawn

It didn’t know Boudicca.

Stumped him with Lio from the comic of the same name.

Which was actually in his database, once I entered the name, so clearly he was just asking the wrong questions. (As evidenced by the fact that the possible answers he came up with included a porn star.)

Stumped him today with Nesace, the Angel of Beauty from EA Poe’s poem “Al Araaf.”

I even gave it my character’s identity in the form of my user name. After many questions, it sullenly concludes “Guessed right one more time. I know who are thinking of, but I believe this is not for children”

Upon reflection, this is probably because I gave my age as 2 :open_mouth:

Stumped with both Chris King and Victoria Grant from the Dial H for Hero comic books of the 80s, and also with Emily Litella (though it did guess Roseanna Roseannadanna and then the Church Lady).

It guessed the Other Mother from Coraline on its second try, first hilariously guessing Betty Boop.

I have to admit I have respect for something that can guess both Anne Eliott from *Persuasion *and Ash Williams from The Evil Dead in short order.

I did stump it with **Lottie Wilkins **from Enchanted April.

I stumped him with characters from an old comic from Mexico Called “The Supersabios”, not cheating here because last year Akinator did guess the main character from another famous Mexican comic “The Burron Family”.

Oddest thing that on several occasions Akinator asked if the character had killed his sister, (none of the ones I used did so) I wonder if so many characters out there have that item in their bios to make it worthy to ask that question. :dubious:

Tried it four times. It got Vivian Stanshall, but missed on Gary Yoder (of Kak), Jane Relf (the original singer for Renaissance and brother of Keith), and Jacqui McShee (of the Pentangle).

I just stumped it four times in a row with Douglas Adams (starting a new game but with the same character in mind each time). Finally it got it, with several of the questions listed having no expected response in the game report. I’m blown away that it could guess such obscure people but not get Douglas Adams until its fifth try.

Update: And now I just stumped it with Syndrome (from the Incredibles). I don’t know what’s up with it today. It usually seems better than this. I think it has to do with the “submit a question” option. Is that new? It seems to be asking really fucking stupid questions.

Got him with Alice, of the Cul-De-Sac comic strip. Ambiguous questions included whether she was in a children’s book (a collection of strips would qualify), and if she was in a comic book-answered yes to both.

Stumped him with one of the Avengers. (In fairness, it was the Swordsman.)
