Just when you think corporate greed can’t get any worse, this comes along. In summary, the top two execs at K-Mart have asked a bankruptcy judge to approve their miltimillion dollar bonuses. Yes, that’s right. The same two dipshits whose incompetence led to bankruptcy for the company and job losses for thousands of people think their exceptional performance entitles them to bonuses. Apparently, 44 other senior execs would also be rewarded.
I would act all shocked and outraged, but it’s really about par for the course.
Shit! I coulda made K-Mart profitable and I’da done it for half what they’re going to be paying those fuckwits! Oh, hell, who am I kidding? I’d have done it for $60K a year.
Oh wait, I can’t knit. Fuck it, let 'em buy their own burial shrouds; they make enough money!
Maybe we need a federal law: the guy at the top can only make Nx the salary of the lowest-level worker, with N not exceeding 50, or something. If the execs want more than that, they’ll have to head on over to the "nonprofit"orgs.
It’s not even that they get paid insane amounts compared to the average worker. The really lousy thing is that they get bonuses for destroying people’s lives.
Lay off 5,000 people. Profits take a temporary hike. Get a bonus.
Lay off another 2,000. Profits take a temporary hike. Get a bonus.
File for bankruptcy. Get a bonus…or at least try to get the courts to approve one.
What the hell happened to taking care of your people?
It’s not the job of the executives to take care of the little guy, remember? It’s all about money, money, money.
When I worked retail (at a K-Mart competitor), there was constant talk of ‘slimming down’ the number of employees, but I distinctly remember the head honcho getting a 2.5 million dollar Christmas bonus the same year. Lay off the little people, the ones who work for minimum wage just to put food on the table, but for god’s sake, don’t make the high-paid executives suffer!
Oh, and jk1245, the first thing I thought of when reading your thread title was:
