I was watching an episode of Stargate SG-1 on Hulu (S2E4: Gamekeeper) and it brought up a question.
In this episode Dr. Carter brought up the statement, that it doesn’t agree with current time travel theory, that you would see yourself, or you would be yourself. I understand the entire seeing yourself (makes since, if you travel back it time, of course you would still be there), but the whole being yourself doesn’t make any since to me. So, are there any current theory about time travel to yourself when you are younger? If so, how possibly would it happen?
Time travel simply isn’t possible in current scientific theories. So the question of how time travel would work if it were possible doesn’t make any sense. If you want to randomly change current science so that time travel works, you could randomly change it to make it work in any fashion you want.
I didn’t catch that episode, but it would have been hilarious to see her made to eat those words in the episode 1969, where they DID time travel, and neither saw themselves (they weren’t anywhere near where any of them lived at the time) nor were themselves (luckily, since Sam and Daniel were still in diapers in 1969, and Teal’c wasn’t even on Earth - it would have made getting back hard).
