I’m going to be giving a lecture on the 25 major events of the 20th century. I have most of them thought out, but could use an available timeline, both to get any good ideas and to use as a template for my own timeline. I have been unsuccessful in finding one so far. Anyone have a good website?
If you do not need it to be on-line, try a copy of the World Almanac and Book of Facts. In the World History section, they have a timeline that runs down the sides of the pages. There is a bit of a Western bias, but if you are looking for only the top 25 events of the 20th century, that should not hinder you.
On-line, Matthew White’s Historical Atlas of the Twentieth Century provides a timeline broken into four “quarters” of 25 years each (along with a host of other information). The timelines are in “General Trends” near the top of the page, but below the introductory comments (roughly two “screens” below the top of the home page).
