Historical Chronology Web Sites?

Are there any web sites that give detailed year-by-year chronologies of social and political history? I do have James Trager’s excellent The People’s Chronology and find it very useful; but it skims (by necessity).

I have a lot of US history books, but I’m looking in particular for something on England from about 1880–1910, and Paris c1912. You know, not only the important political and artistic happenings, but everyday things, like when did electricity come into everyday use, and phones; who were the popular music-hall stars; the fleeting news stories of the day in a yearly format. “In 1891 . . .” That sorta thing.

These two lack sufficient detail, but here is a start. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/timelines/england/
English history and heritage guide - History of England

And here are a few timeline sites:

http://timelines.ws/
http://www2.canisius.edu/~emeryg/time.html
http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/History_n2/a.html
http://www.timelines.info/

Hope this helps. . .

Thanks! “timelines.ws” looks particularly promising—I’ve bookmarked it and will hunt through it.

You’re welcome. I’m glad I could help.
