It’s summer in Alabama, which means it’s (damn) hot and (damn) humid out.
Well, we have a (floor) air conditioning vent right under our big front picture window, and it has formed quite a bit of condensation on the outside of the window in the last few days. The other day, my wife was looking out the window, and noticed something odd. There appeared to be letters in the condensation. After much investigation and struggle, we finally determined that the letters spell out “Tippy Howell”, backwards. Kind of cool, really (or it would have been if we didn’t first notice it at night, during a storm. Made it rather spooky.) Our house was built in 1955, and I’m wondering how long ago someone was standing on a ladder, maybe working on the gutters, and idly decided to spell out their name on the outside of our window.
What’s the most recent it could be? I.e., you can rule out it having happened while you lived there, and possibly earlier. So it has to be at least how old?
It has to be at least three years old. Probably much older, actually, since it had to have been done before the storm window was put up, and the storm window is definitely of an older vintage. I need to ask some of my elderly neighbors if they remember Tippy Howell.
Occasionally in the morning I’ll go out to get in my car and there will be condensaton on the windows. One morning, as I approached the car from the driver’s side, I saw the image of the MSRP sticker in the condensation in the rear window. It was almost clear enough to read it, as if the sheet of glass was a sheet of transparency film and the window sticker had been photocopied onto it. It listed the make, model, all standard and optional features, mileage, price, etc. As I stood there marveling at it, the sun coming over the trees started to warm up the car and it slowly dissipated.
The car was purchased new in 1995 and this occurred in 2008.
