I’ve had one of these for about 15 years. I bought it back when I lived in Illinois, where the wind could waste two or three umbrellas a week! Looks like the 62" one costs $35.00 and the 68" one costs $40. Believe me, it will be the last umbrella you buy, unless you lose it!
I like my umbrella from Brookstone. Pretty sturdy, has vents to help with wind, has both auto-open and auto-close button (which I adore), comes with a sturdy carrying sleeve, is fairly compact, and if bought in a store, they give you one free replacement if it breaks (they used to be more lax about it and I replaced a couple of toddler-age brellas - now they say only 1, with receipt, within a month or whatever. But it is immediate and you walk out with a new one!).
I would think a vented umbrella would work well with gusts. I carry a compact umbrella and when I get near my office the wind is swirling everywhere. It makes it tough to point into the wind when it keeps changing direction. Vents would be nice.
Czarcasm You have my sympathies. “I need it for work, and I work with the most non-geeky people you can imagine.” I’ve been with non-geeky people most of my life. Don’t know how I did it!
Hang in there boobala!
