Dammit guys… My two housemates are back (there’s also a live-in landlord); the two that constantly complain that the house is too cold, and turn the heating up every chance they get. They are also both smokers. They smoke outside, and leave the back door wiiiide open while they do so, having just turned the heating on.
Look, there are two options; either it’s cold, so the heating needs to be turned up and the door shut, or it’s not cold, in which case turning the heating off and leaving the door open is fine. It can’t be both.
I’m sure if you come in from outside, it still feels warm when you come back in, but being the person who’s still inside, I can assure you the temperature plummeted while you stood outside with the door open for 10 minutes. Aside from the sheer waste, the landlord has said the heating bill has gone up so much, we’re all going to have to start paying more.
I’ve asked them to not do it, but they just roll their eyes, shut it while I’m watching, and the next time I come into the kitchen, the door’s open again.
Make them split the increase between the two of them and leave you out of it.
Oh God, I hate New Years Eve.
I’m going out with a friend. She wants to go to a local open mic event - and it’s a New Years Eve marathon from 7PM until whenever. I told here I didn’t mind going for a few hours but --because the place is cramped and uncomfortable with lousy food - I only wanted to stay for a few hours, then go somewhere else. She was OK with that. At this point I need to mention that my friend is a lovely person with many fine qualities but intelligence is not one of them.
A few days ago we were firming up plans and I suggested that we leave at 6:30 if she wants to perform so she can get her name on the list early. But no, she has something else to do and can’t pick me up until 7… which means we won’t get there until 7:30 or so.
This would be fine if she wasn’t intent on performing. I just tried to give her another gentle nudge with … " you know they are giving everyone 10 minute time slots tonight not 5 minute.
Her response … My song is only 2 minutes
OK - time to spell it out – They want to make sure the event runs well past midnight - if you get there too late you will be like #30 on the list and you won’t get onstage until the wee hours"
Her response … Ha Ha Ha LOL
Really? REALLY? There are always at least 30 performers on the regular nights and they most of them sign up by 7.
At least there is one of those chain Mexican casual restaurants across the street and I can get home on mass transit… I will ditch her if I have to.
I’m half wishing that she cancels … She has a tendency to forget things and make double plans then she has to cancel one of them but no such luck tonight.

You fucking bastards. “God does not make mistakes” and claiming this was a confused boy. God made Leelah as she was, and you should have accepted HER that way.
Oh, and it would be very very easy for me to point at people born deformed, crippled, damaged, and ask you why God made them to suffer, but I know from experience that you’ll claim it is to teach others lessons. Lessons you clearly are not interested in learning in this case. And given my own struggles in life, and those of people here and elsewhere, I wonder why your God made me suffer in the vain hopes of enlightening others. Sure doesn’t help me much, and I’m not interested in laying it all at his feet and begging forgiveness for being unhappy with what he gave me.
Why yes… 
My rant for now: I wish Facebook had a way to hide all posts featuring the results of stupid online quizzes. I don’t care which weather event is most like your personality, or what character from some obscure 70’s TV show you are, or what inane something-or-other from who-cares-what you are. Enough already.
Close door, lock it. Problem solved. If it is cold enough, think of it as evolution in action.
