Titans kicker admits he took a dive on the kick he missed

Weirddave, your shit is tired. Every thread about the Steelers features a flaming post of yours with some weak ass rant and pathetic lambasting of all Steelers fans. The only one here with a shitty attitude is you. There are teams that I hate, but it is not my avocation to blow my wad about it at every opportunity. Truth be told, I can’t get up the same level of animosity about the Ravens because they just suck. Roughly one season of true competitveness, and they’re done. Go cry me a river, pansy.

As to the call, it was bullshit. Of course, the Steelers secondary sucked all year, and sucked again on Saturday. And there is no denying that Washington fucked everything up just a few plays before. But when you have a guy running parallel to the line of scrimmage, stumbling, head turned away from the kicker, and the kicker walks into his path taking a few steps after his follow through - tell me, can you say that flagging this is the spirit of the law?

Those of you so keen on calling this by the book, please tell me, what does the book say in defining the penalty? I can’t find it online. I do find some references that say running into the kicker occurs when someone runs into the kicker “while he is in a kicking position.” If this holds for the actual NFL definition, I would say that the refs fucked up both the spirit and the letter of the rule.

So, no denying that the Steelers put themselves in the position they did. How the fuck does this equate to the Titans getting as many cracks at it as they need?

On another note, which pissed me off even more than the running into the kicker call, what the fuck was up with the non-holding calls against the Titans all day long. It wasn’t that the refs were letting everyone play in terms of holding, because they chose to call the Steelers on it. If there wasn’t some preferential treatment being given to the Titans, how the fuck did every official miss the guys knee hitting the ground, when it was clear to the rest of the whole country. The fact that Cowher had to have to fight to get that one reviewed is shameful.

All I have to say is that if we get our secondary figured out and retain our offense, I like our chances next year. Given that we were 9-0 against the division this year, I look forward to another January of pissing and moaning from Weirddave in 2004.

Unsurprisingly, it’s from the article in the OP:

What part of “thou shalt not touch the kicker” do you not understand?

Christ, I never held any real animosity towards the Steelers or their fans (despite being from Bmore, I hate the fucking Ravens, and Steelers-Skins just isn’t a rivalry that even could exist), but this fucking whining every single year when their pansy asses get beat is starting to change that. You touch the kicker, you get called. Simple fucking rule.

Thanks, Hentor, for your support.

I’m afraid I have to correct you, though- it was 7-0 within the division. The Steelers own the division, at least.

Oh, well, wait till next year. I’m going back to watching the other playoff games.

to quote the nfl rulebook

Based on the above statement by Nedney and replays that clearly show Nedney stepping into the hit; it’s clearly not in the spirit of the rule. A strong case would be made for case (b) above. It’s sad that a great game could come down to a dubious call.
As an aside, i, too, am tired by Weirddave’s antics in EVERY thread about the Steelers. Grow up. We’re allowed to vent and discuss a game without ridiculous commentary from an assclown.

Guys! Stop being stupid!

Steeler fans – don’t whine too much. The Steelers screwed up royaly, and definitely have themeselves to blame for the loss. But they also played well for a lot of the game, so be proud of your players and hope for better luck next year.

AntiSteeler fans - you’d be doing the same thing if it happened to your team. It was a sucky call to loose on. Try to understand that, and stop being such smug assholes. I hate sore winners, especially when they don’t seem to care so much that there team won, but that the other team lost.

The Steelers have beaten the Raisins in their past three meetings. weirdave just gets madder and madder. I find it hilarious. Also, It’s really easy to hate teams that are in the playoffs where your team goes sub .500 for the year. Right dave?
Dave’s like the homeless guy with a sandwich board preaching about the apocolypse…When he starts on about the Steelers just giggle and ignore him. It’s what I’ve learned to do.

OOOH! I’m bothering the whiners! Oh, I’ll just go away and let you all piss and moan about referees because * your team can’t win on the field when it counts!*

This is the NFL, this is what rivalries are all about, if you can’t handle it I suggest you run back to your mommies and complain that the big, bad, mean old Ravens fan is making you cry. You are happy to talk all the smack in the world when you win, but when you lose (as you always do) it’s whine, cry, bitch, moan, we’re so put upon, it’s not fair, blah, blah, bullshit. Bite my bag you pathetic bunch of losers.

Oh, and just to set the record straight, in AirmanDoors’ thread about the game yesterday I said:

I am fully capable of recognizing a well played game, even when it’s the Stillers that play it. It’s their weak ass pansy fans that I can’t stand.

::giggles::

I’m a lifelong Steeler fan, haveing been one for over 25 years.

Washington fucked up. He touched the kicker. End of story. It doesn’t matter if it was a bad call. There is no doubt he touched the kicker, and as such Washington fucked up. The Steelers put themselves in a position where a critical call was necessary to decide the game. That isn’t the officials’ fault. The Steelers blew it in the Sup again Dallas. They blew it last year against the Pats. They blew it this year against the Titans. Pittsburgh needs to learn to come out and dominate a game and not just try to win.

I also happen to be a Giant’s fan. I think the non-call last week was really bad, as is evidenced by the commissioner’s office acknowledgement. Even so, the Giant’s are not owed anything as they blew a 24 point lead in 17 minutes.

There are certain times when you can say an official cost someone a game. Off the top of my head, though, I can’t really think of one. But in both these cases, I think the two teams that lost need to look to themselves, not someone else for the blame. They blew it, plain and simple.

See? That’s fair. Well said cmosdes. Both teams plated a fantastic game, it’s almost a shame one had to lose.

Mouthbreather- later for you. I didn’t expect to beat Pittsburgh this year. We’ll see in the fall how well the Ravens spend the $20 million they have under the cap this year, and then Heinz Field will be Ravens country once again!

Heinz Field has never been Ravens country. I suggest you get your head out of your ass, Dave.

Even I agree that although the call was suspect it was not incorrect, it was too close for Washington to make the cut that he did; plus Nedney acted it out well.

But your assumption that what one Steeler fan says is what all Steeler fans say is tiresome. You’re not talking trash; you’re talking hate speech. I’m done responding to you if you continue in this manner.

Hate speach? Lets see, I came into the thread and opined that Steeler fans were whining, which they were, that’s what the thread is about, after all. In response I get:

Ravens called “killers”( : rolleyes: )

You led off with the “perenial also rans” comment and then initiated the use of profanity with a rousing “fuck you” personally directed to me.

Then I pointed out that my comments were directed at the attitude displayed by Steeler fans, yet I picked out no single person for abuse, instead sticking to general comments. Then I clarified the movie reference that you missed. Steeler fans were not slow to respond:

Next I was called an assclown. These were all personal attacks on me.

Now I, who attacked nobody specific, am now on the receiving end of personal attacks, and you accuse me of hate speach??? I think you need to reread the thread, this time with your eyes open and the rose, er, black and gold, colored glasses off.

Ok, as far as I’m concerned, I’m done with this. Your “trash talk” goes a bit too far, and when you’re called on it you point back and say “everyone else is doing it”, in a sense.

I understand you now. You just have to be right. Anyone who is a Steeler fan is automatically an enemy, an object of ridicule. If that’s not just like racist hate speech I don’t know what is.

Just remember, anytime you make any disparaging remark about “Steeler fans” in general, you are including me. My prior reply stands.

Y’know, I don’t know what else to tell you. Hell, you already know I’ve excepted most Steeler fans on the boards from most the way most Steeler fans act, you know the history of bad conduct and assault I’ve endured from the thugs in gold and black. Since “Steeler fans” now includes you without exception, I’ll remeber that and stop giving you the courtesy I’ve show you in the past.

As to “being right”, sweety, I AM right about this.Every other NFL fan in this thread has said so as well. The call was legit and the Steelers LOST.

Suck it up, princess.

… maybe I’m going to rethink getting into football if everyone is going to be willfully stupid and assholish.

[b[Weirddave** – you’re an asshole. There is no rule anywhere that says just because you’re right about a call means you can be a jerk and trash people pointlessly, and then whine like a five year old when you get called anywhere.

Sheesh.

D’oh. That is correct, sir! Well, er, um, if there were another team in our division, we would have beaten them twice, too! Yeah, that’s what I meant. I still say I likes our chances to go to the playoffs again next year, even if Mularkey takes over for LeBeau.

Fuck you, bitch. I’m getting personally insulted and attacked, and I’m wrong? Go impale yourself on a gearshift.

Hahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaa

This is how it is. This is how it’s always been. This is how it’ll always be. There is a history between teams, cities, and fans that goes back decades. It’s not about the call, it’s the cumulation of every single call that’s ever been made. As a matter of fact, what’s going on in this thread is fairly mild.

Yes, you’re wrong. Two fucking wrongs don’t make a right. Show some god damn maturity. If you can’t admit that you’re being a over blown pompus jerk, well, don’t expect me to weep with pity for your unfair treatment at the hands of vicious yet whiney Steeler fans.
