Title & lyrics of the song Lauren Bacall sang in "The Big Sleep"?

All I can remember is part of the chorus:

And her tears flowed like wine
Yes, her tears flowed like wine
She’s a sad, bruised tomato
She’s a busted valentine . . .

And Her Tears Flowed Like Wine

 Thanx! It’s the scene I remember best from the movie – and perhaps the only scene that makes any sense!

I thought all the individual scenes made sense, it was only that they didn’t quite string together in a meaningful gestalt. “If you need me, just whistle.”

S’cuse me, but isn’t that line from 'To Have and Have Not"?

The best scene in “The Big Sleep” is where the two are rating each other in racing terms. I usually need a cigarette after I watch that. Hubba hubba!

It actually makes more sense if you read Chander’s novella. There were things that just couldn’t be spelled out in a movie, back then. E.g., until I read the book I had no idea the mysterious faux-bookstore was actually a porno shop (one that rented out pornographic books, like a modern shop rents out DVDs). Or that the murdered Geiger was bisexual and the young Carol Lundgren was one of his lovers.
