Hey all,
I have a problem. I am trying to hook up my Sony Vega, Tivo Series 2, Comcast Motorola cable box, and Bose Lifestyle 28. I am looking at the backs of three machines and a jumble of wires. Of course I thought I could do it and now I can’t even get it back to normal. Can anyone walk me through this supposedly simple task. My current problems are getting the Tivo to show on my TV screen and getting sound through the Bose.
Thanks in advance…
-Graham
Doesn’t sound too complicated.
[ol][li]Coaxial cable from the wall into the cable box.[/li][li]RCA cables from the cable box into the TiVo’s RCA In jacks. Rerun Guided Setup and select Cable Box for your input and the RCA jacks for the incoming signal.[/li][li]RCA cables out from the TiVo into the TV and the sound system – run the yellow video cable into the TV and the red/white audio cables into the sound system. Set the TV to the input you put the cable in. Turn on the cable box, hit Live TV on the TiVo, and you should get it.[/ol][/li]
If this is unclear, reply with the inputs and outputs on your various devices, and I’ll try to clarify.

Here
is a link that explains how to hook the cable box to the Tivo and then to a TV. Except you will run the Tivo out connections to the satellite in on the Bose instead of a TV. The Bose will then run video to the TV. See the Bose installation guide.
Video configuration:
Run the Ant. in (coax) from the source to the cable box.
Run a Ant. out (coax) from the cable box to the Tivo Ant in.
Run an S-video cable from the cable box video out to the Tivo video in.
Run a composite video cable from the cable box video out to the Tivo video in. You only need one of these, but I’m having you run all three so that it will be easier to get this to work if you manage to change the inputs around. The S-video has the best image quality.
You need to run an S-video cable from the Tivo video out to the Bose video in. You need to run an S-video from the Bose video out to the TV S-video in.
You need to run a composite video from the Bose video out to the TV composite video in.
This covers your video signal configuration. Use the Bose to select video sources.
Run the IR connection from the cable box to the Tivo and set the channel selections to 3. This allows the Tivo to change the cable box channels.
Audio configuration:
Run the L/R analog audio out from the cable box to the Tivo L/R analog audio in.
Run the L/R analog audio out from the Tivo to the Bose L/R analog audio in for CBL-SAT. You will select CBL-SAT on the Bose remote to watch TV.
This should get you setup. Good luck!
