To all people from Kansas City, Missouri (note it is Missouri, not actually Kansas)

My wife is from KCK - in fact, her parents and some other family still live there; her father works in the government there. From visiting there several times, it seems like it’s a good, homey, family place, but not a great touristy “come and visit me” place. That’s second hand, of course.

Her family speaks quite highly of the magnet high school there - Sumner Academy - but poorly of the public high schools.

What part of town?
Like do you have any idea?
It’s important.

I live north of the river, like it ok, doesn’t seem like much fun for a teenager though.

Mid town- more fun, more dangerous, urban core.

South- Johnson county, KS, a lot of money there, one of the richest counties in the nation, or so I hear.

Northeast- egh, be careful, but, on a positive note, the most diverse part of the city ethnically.

West side - also, be careful, a good place to live if you’re hispanic, or are into hispanic culture, but a high crime area too. Good mexican restaurants here.

which is not to say that these are automatically bad places, just be careful.

What grade are you in?
Some of the schools aren’t so good here, Avoid: North East High, Central High school. Lincoln prep is good, Paseo Academy is good. The schools in North Kansas City seem pretty good, as well as those in Johnson county.

the schools had 3 snow days this year.

Olathe (pronounced Oh-LAY-thuh) isn’t that bad. It’s just very suburban, increasingly upper middle class, conservative in outlook, and quite a distance from downtown Kansas City.

The suburb that tends to be the subject of the most mockery is Raytown. The majority of businesses in Raytown are related to motor vehicles in some way, and the demographics lean towards the Confederate side.
