To Chicago for the Birthday Weekend

I’m going this weekend for a few days. It isn’t my first time, and there are a couple prosaic things I definitely want to do: Art Institute, walk on Michigan.

Other than that, there are decisions to be made (do I want tapas/paella or steak for my birthday dinner) and there are hours to fill.

I’m hoping some of the Chicagolanders around these boards might have some suggestions, so I ask the following:

Are there any small "must do"s or "must see"s you love to recommend to visitors…it could be a restaurant, a gallery, a shop, a park, a dive bar, a movie theatre – anything, really. Do you have a favorite restaurant in an adventurous cuisine? Places you think are underrated or undiscovered?

Thanks!

Walk on Michigan? The Lake is still liquid while the Avenue is pretty snow covered. Make sure you plan on taking taxis this weekend, it’s pretty cold and snowy out there. I liked the Field Museum a lot as well as the Art Institute. Of course my favorite place to eat is Demon Dogs under the Fullerton El, so don’t mind me…

Ha

Noted, good point

My companion has never had a Chicago Dog! So, you recommend Demon Dogs?
