Especially the people who sold pizza so we could order out tonight.
You’re welcome.
Although I was running genetics tests, not delivering pizza. Not quite as vital, I realize, but still.
Folks who ran the metro.
That was me… though Hamish used the metro tonight too.
It’s all part of the job. Airlines run 365 days a year. We actually had a good night tonight and were all out by 10, so we don’t really mind.
My sister was working in the ER tonight. They don’t get days off for any holiday.
We had a fun dinner but missed her. She’s working into this morning too. I’m hoping for some interesting New Year’s stories.
You’re welcome.
Although might I add an aside here to curse Burger King? I was planning on hitting BK on my way in to work this evening, but they were closed! Now I’m hungry, nay, starving… I’m gonna have to break down and get one of those “sandwiches” out of the vending machine in the lunch room; I have no choice, as the next chance that I’m going to have to eat will be noon tomorrow when I finish work (about 10 hours from now).
Bah. I hope it’s not too moldy.
Yep. I was here, data-processin’ away.
I was carrying a rifle guarding my base because we’re so short on Security Forces, same as I was on Christmas and will be doing for the next ten months.
Thanks to the folks at the Chinese restaurant who made my delicious red-cooked bean curd.
And thanks to our town’s Finest for keeping an eye peeled for DUIs. Their presence last night was visible and reassuring.
I was working- passing meds and checking IV’s. I did notice alot of pizza deliveries into the hospital last night, tho! I just had leftover holiday candy from the nurses lounge, myself !
I was working the night shift in the ER as well. Only moderately busy until about 11pm, then the celebratory drunks and beer bottle to the head, etc started coming in and we were jumping until about 4am. Luckily it slowed down a bit after that and we were able to catch up and have everyone seen before the shift ended. As my colleague said “I’m never working this holiday again. I’m going to make that part of my contract”
I was here, not doing anything particularly noble or useful.
I worked last night. Someone has to get the morning newspaper out.
I’m back at my old video store job during my winter vacation, but miraculously managed to close and get home by 11:40 or so, as opposed to 12:40 like last year. Hooray for time-and-a-half, though!
You’re welcome. Someone has to keep parts of the internet up.
Welcome as well someone has to play music for the drinking people.
That would be me. And my pal John, who typically doesn’t play NYE but had a good time nonetheless. (Note to self: Remind venue to book NYE eeearly next year. December 20 is not enough time to find even one player.)
That was me, getting a head start on the year end reports.
