Just out of curiosity - if you don’t like these boards, why wait till tomorrow to quit? And why make an announcement? I’ve joined boards that I later found I didn’t like, and I just quit posting. No big deal.
Sorry Ladyrose that you weren’t able to resolve your differences. I haven’t followed all of your posts but a clarification of the posting rules about copyrighted material isn’t reason to get your knickers in a twist. Granted, this is not the place for everyone so enjoy your other boards.

Don’t repost copyrighted materials. And don’t be a jerk.
I’m genuinely sorry that you don’t like it here. This is a board dedicated to fighting ignorance, something I have been a supporter of all my life. People here like being able to ask a question without the response being drowned in meaningless flame wars. (The flame wars here are MEANINGFUL.)
If you really wanted someone to read materials from another source, all you have to do is provide a link. If you post the entire article instead without attribution, it leaves our host open to lawsuit by the copyright holder, and it makes YOU look like you intended to plagiarize the material.
Drawing attention to yourself with an “I’m taking my ball and going home” post will draw the wrong attention. What do you hope to accomplish? Do you think there will be a mass changing of minds, saying “She was right, let’s change things to accomodate her?”

Sorry you feel that way, Ladyrose. Maybe you just needed some time to kind of soak up the board atmosphere. People here are among the smartest, funniest, and kindest that I’ve seen on the Internet.
I think that the copyrighted material postings, combined with a heavy dose of defensiveness on your part, pretty much covers the reason why you’ve had some less-than-wonderful experiences on this board.
I thought your first thread introducing yourself was really cute, and I’m sorry to see the way things have panned out. I think that if you wanted to stick around for a bit and not post glurge in MPSIMS, you’d be fine.

Ladyrose, I think you’re right. The SDMB is not the place for you. No, indeed.
I wish I had a nickel for every newbie in the several online communities I frequent who posts copyrighted material (especially humor we’ve all seen a hundred times), is asked not to do so, and then gets all snippy: “I was just trying to be friendly / thought you would enjoy it / why are you yelling at me!??” instead of realizing that he/she has just gotten a small education on copyright and netiquette.
I’d be a rich woman.
