There has been a fucking ban on camp fires for weeks now you dumb fucks. I am 100% sure that it was posted when you entered the forest and it’s been all over the the fucking news here.
You started the worst fire that Colorado has ever seen as far as I know, reportedly up to 76,000 acres. It’s bad enough that a coal mine started the Glenwood Springs area fire but for you to be that fucking stupid just is unbelievable.
They have closed two national forests here because of your fucked up stupidity not to mention the threat to life all along the fires path. It’s fucking dry, this is the worst that Colorado has seen and you must have your head up your fucking ass to not know the extreme nature of this situation. I mean your ass must be so fucking far up your ass you could map out the polyps in your small intestine.
Fuck you, I hope that you are caught and that your subjected to your genitals being pulled from your body before subjected to a guillotine that lobs off your stupid ass brain because you didn’t fucking use it to begin with.
I really hope that you guys don’t have the same kind of bushfire season we had last summer.
Our newspapers are reporting that one of the fires was started by sparks from a welder - any chance that the company concerned can be made to foot the bill for the firefighting costs and resultant damage?
The reports are that a campfire got out of control (which is an obvious statement that the press keeps saying.) I am not sure what the federal laws are about this but local laws are very strict with regards to starting a fire during restrictions. It was started in what I think is federal land so it could be that the people who started this could just get a slap on the wrist and a spanking on the fanny.
We’ve had about 800 fires, according to MSNBC, just here in Colorado since the beginning of the year. I don’t know how true that is but we currently have 9 huge fires going on. We normally don’t see fires until late July or August so this is unprecidented here. It’s damn hot and damn dry.
I have lived in Colorado all my life (almost 34 years) and I don’t recall a spring like this ever. Normally it’s in the 60s or 70s (not sure of the celcius conversion) this time of year but we have been tapping into the 90s and 100s here. We didn’t get hardly any snow this year, the mountains are bare. Snowpack usually doesn’t subside until late June or July.
But for those fuckers to be so dumb really chaps my hide. You have to be a serious dumbass to not know how horrible the conditions are.
I assume our firefighters are already getting our equipment and fire crews ready to put on a Hercules or 4 and come give you a hand; from my knowledge of Colorado, it sounds like the conditions this year are ideal for crown fires and firestorms. Not looking good at all.
You guys all stay safe - we’ll be thinking of you and hoping that damage is minimal and someone puts these fuckpoodles behinds bars.
FTR, one of the smaller fires (I think the one near Grand Junction, but I’m not sure) was started by a spark from a welder. Might also be the one outside Durango.
The biggest problem is that there simply aren’t enough firefighters. The second biggest problem is that all of the firefighters have been pulled off of the fire nearest Denver, because it’s too dangerous to fight it (there’s so much smoke that you literally can’t see the fire). The third is that it’s too windy for slurry bombers. That leaves us with an out of control fire heading towards Denver that we can’t stop.
inconoplast – the fire outside of Durango is not being fought because of the fires in Glenwood and out of Lake George. Not only that, there just isn’t the resources available for this particular fire and it’s horrible advancement north east.
On another note, in C Springs we haven’t had much in terms of smoke smell in the last 12 hours or so. You can see the smoke but we didn’t have nearly the haze that the Metro area experienced.
I just hope the mofos that started this are caught. I am appauled that people are that stupid.
techchick68, sounds like you’re near my sister in Woodland Park. Is everything OK in that area?
Sherry says it is, but to keep me from worrying she’d say that if her hair was on fire…
I don’t know what’s worse: the total smegging Uber-morons who started the Colorado fires, or the evil, sexually frustrated twatnoggins who deliberately started the Sydney ones last year.
Hold on - how on Earth do you figure out who started a forest fire?
Another thing that comes to mind is that it’s nature’s way for extremely dry timber to burn up, and it’s just a drag for us that we built homes all up in it.
Hey, I’m just as compassionate as the next guy. Oh wait…that’s a lie.
I’m surprised they didn’t blame it on a smoker. Ya, the morons with a campfire should be drawn and quartered, but remember that if it wasn’t those idiots, it would have started some other way, it’s that dry. Lightning, train sparks, whatever. It’s possible a fire now is better than in say, August, but that’s probably not much consolation.
The West is going to torch, and there isn’t anything or anybody that’s going to stop it until it rains or snows. Years of prevention coupled with the Pine Bark Beetle destroying whole swaths of forest are the problem.
As I type this, they are evacuating parts of the Woodland Park and surrounding areas. I can’t remember the subdivisions as I haven’t seen the crawl on the screen for several minutes.
I am about a 40 minute drive to Woodland Park given my location in north C Springs, traffic lights and such make it longer than it should be.
Apparently the fire doubled back on its self over night.
Oh and Billy, they have found the starters of most of the fires around here. The fire near Bailey CO was started behind a school where two teens were smoking. You’d be amazed at their abilities to find the source of fires.
Several years ago Buffalo Creek was up in flames, they found and prosecuted the starters of the fire if I remember correctly.
From what I understand, the Hayman fire was started by some people who had an open campfire which they left unattended while they went off on their ATV’s. They had been warned at least 3 times not to even have the open campfire, let alone leave it completely unattended for several hours.
There was also a fire in a condo downtown a couple weeks ago-- on a REALLY windy day someone left their smoker unattended on their balcony. Duh…wind knocked it over and burnt up the condo and the house next door that had JUST finished a two-year remodel.
What is with the idiocy of some people? techchick, I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
