Yes they are quite effective when they need to be. A few months back we got some spam spread to different boards. I reported it, read some threads and went back to see if anything had changed. Their was no trace of the posts or the spammer. For a while I thought I may have dreamed the whole thing.
Moral of the story, don’t piss off the powers that be.
Someone filled MPSIMS with duplicate threads, then they vanished
I think it has something to do with that thread that (just within the half hr) suddenly disappeared in the pit, just a WAG
I think it was Gaudere who nipped this one in the bud. She “mass-pruned” all this guy’s threads, which is serverintensive, but DOES solve the problem in one swift sweep. And then she banned him, of course.
Let’s just say that the guy’s name involved a favorite sexual practice involving multiple men and a woman’s face. Every one of his posts had a sentence relating to the thread as it related to this specific sexual practice and a link to a website. I don’t dare invoke his name.
I was finding it absolutely hillarious in that it made absolutely no sense, except that he posted to or started 10 threads or so in 45 minutes.
I was just about to start “Thanks Mods / Admins / Hamsters thread” but I’ll just chip in here
That lil’ ol’ [sub]Report this post[/sub] thingy really works. I’ve spotted a few “dubious” threads in the last few days. Press the button and some of them get closed.
I’ll e-mail all the SDMB gods/demi-gods etc virtual beer (or cyber back rubs) to say thanks again guys.
