To those who appreciate/enjoy a cappella music

I just discovered Straight No Chaser
Happy Holidays to all

anyrose, thank you! That was wonderful! I’m having trouble mustering Christmas spirit this year, that gave me a little boost. I guess I’ll go shopping tomorrow.

Oh, that was fun! Thanks.

Just what I needed today. Thank you…

Have you ever heard the Bobs do Helter Skelter? It is mindbending.

If you like a capella, you’ll like the Flying Pickets!

Well I’ve posted this in all the holiday threads, but this is a cappella too, so I’ll post it here. Riu Chiu

Thanks for the smile, anyrose.

I know that song! I sang it in my high school a cappella group. We were called The Madgrigals. IIRC that song was part of a trio of songs - I cannot remember the names of the other two, but I can picture the sheet music from all 3 very clearly (and that’s over 30 years ago)

I remember the lyrics to one of the others went something like “Et la donne donne [ver-case] Maria”

found it on YouTube - audio’s a little shoddy but E La Don Don

Now, if only I could remember the third one

I think it is so pretty, although I don’t understand the lyrics and the man who works for me from Peru says the lyrics aren’t as inspiring as I believe them to be… I just like the sound of it.

OMG! Thank you so much for that!

While we’re on a cappella groups, you might want to check out five o’clock shadow too.

they sound good, but they don’t sound a cappella

I’m pretty sure they are, and that what sound like “instruments” are really vocal percussion.

I haven’t heard them in a while, but last time I did, they had a fellow named Wes Carroll who could sound like pretty much anything which just his voice. Wes has since moved on to another group called the Housejacks, doing the same thing.

I could be wrong about FocS, but that’s my recollection.

This is a better link where you can hear the Flying Pickets.

And here are the Masters of Chant singing Led Zeppelin.

My favourite Straight No Chaser video is the one where they try to scam a meal.

The Housemartins Caravan Of Love - Brits just do it better.

That’s because one of the members beatboxes. (is that the proper way to say this?) I saw them do it live and it was really rather cool. No instruments are used at all. Parthol’s got it.
