If a policy costs more than 8% of their income, then they are not subject to the penalty. For $100k in income, that is not being able to find a policy for $8k or less. For $200k in income, that is not being able to find a policy for $16k or less.

I’m pissed about this. It is the first good reason I’ve seen to join AARP. A group who boos Ryan is a group worth joining.

Still there are substantially more people insured today than a few years ago, mostly under 26 covered by the new rule. And ACA has passed, and is slowly going into effect, and the world has not come to an end as predicted. Sure most of the provisions have not started yet, but the Republicans seemed to be predicted shorter term doom. So it seems like a nonevent to most.
