To what magazines do you subscribe?

Long-term commitments, courtesy of Mr. Mailman:

Smithsonian
Harpers
The New Yorker
Entertainnment Weekly
The Nation
Weird Tales
Occasional reads (airport bookstores, mostly):

Rolling Stone
Atlantic
The Economist

In Fisherman
Bassin

Esquire
Playboy
Guns and Ammo

I’m down to two at home:

Vogue
Entertainment Weekly

Plus a few more at work:

Garden Design
Organic Gardening
Horticulture

National Geographic
Scientific American
Entertainment Weekly
Threads
Parenting (although not for long; the whole thing is basically just a giant shill for expensive baby- and child-related products, so I’m not renewing)

Would like to subscribe to Mental Floss but have not got around to doing so yet.

I saw that at the store the other day but didn’t have time to leaf through it. Any good?

Actually subscribe:
SPIN
Doctor Who Magazine

Buy regularly enough that we should just bite the bullet and subscribe already:
Juxtapoz
Giant Robot
Martha Stewart Living
Hustler

Yes, it’s damn good. My mom bought my wife a subscription last year, and I enjoyed it quite a bit as well. I’ve been warned off of resubscribing because it’s pricey, but I’m considering it anyway.

Anyway, as to our household:

[ul]
[li]Mental Floss[/li][li]Popular Science[/li][li]Motorcycle Consumer News[/li][/ul]

The Economist – for weekly international news coverage and getting away from American media biases
New Scientist – for weekly science news coverage
Scientific American – good review articles
Analog – perfect sampler of scifi
LA Times – getting Sunday paper via a free promotion

Until recently: Nature – great review articles, but too expensive without a student discount

Between me and the wife:

Newsweek
Entertainment Weekly
Redbook
InStyle
Model Railroader
Railroad Model Craftsman
Parents
Parenting

We just recently let our subscriptions to Allure, Outdoor and ESPN the Magazine run out without renewing.

PC Gamer.

California Fishing and Hunting News
Outdoor Life
American Hunter
Sunset
Asimov’s
Western Horseman
National Geographic
Penzey’s One
California Country (from the Farm Bureau)
Via (from AAA)

And the kids get:

Nickelodeon
Disney

I’ll read anything I can get my hands on though.

Car Craft
Mopar Action
Organic Gardening

Smithsonian
Gray’s Sporting Journal
Flyfishing and Tying Journal
Trout

Home:
Canoe & Kayak Magazine
Outside

Work:
Highlights
A few different Dog/Cat rags that I never see/read

Currently…

Newsweek
Science
The Scientist
Scientific American
Microbe (ASM press)
Science News
Golf Digest (husband)
Golf (ditto)
Real Simple
Food and Wine
American Girl (daughter)
Muse (kids)
Games magazine

I love magazines!

Discover
National Geographic Español
The New Yorker
Mad Magazine

… and like five more that don’t matter. I got swindled by one of those magazine telemarketers, so they’ll keep coming until they drain the last of 24 payments of $33.20 from my bank account.

Word of advice… don’t order magazines from a telemarketer. I realize this sounds obvious, but when they’re really nice and ask you about the weather and all, you really let your guard down. If you’re me.

At any rate, we shall continue with Discover and The New Yorker and that’ll be it. My husband hearts TNY slightly more and I heart Discover slightly more, but they’re both pretty solid.

I picked up an issue of the Smithonian at a doctor’s office today. It’s actually pretty interesting too… I’d consider a subscription.

I’m flattered.

For school:
