Thank you BrotherCadfael. I opened this thread with Tom Lehrer on the brain. 
My dog likes to chase squirrels, stalking them and getting as close as possible before they run, then sprinting after them. Out of curiosity I joined him in the game and we’ve gotten good enough at squirrel hunting that we have to be careful not to really catch them. When we see one we split up and suround it, he waits crouched down in what cover he can find and I startle the squirrel into running in his direction. He hasn’t bitten one but he has kept them from the trees and chased them to exhaustion. (they’re good for a sprint but not a marathon) Once they stop running the game ends and we go on our way.
