I love the private sign! Will steal!
Without reading it, of course.
Stolen from a wall in the Kremlin.
I was going to enter this in the current photo contest, but I may have a better image.
“Beautiful Pollution”
Today we saw (some of) the first ever Pride celebration in Granville, Normandy.
That was pretty cool.

It’s like on a map of alcoholism prevalence in America, Utah was colored solid green meaning lowest incidence of alcoholism. Somebody commented that Utah is a “blue zone.” I said “Sure looks green to me.” Only then I learned that “blue zone” is a term of art for areas of good health.
Terms of art. One is just supposed to know these things that are not predictable from the words themselves.
Today, working our church’s table at the Franklin Pride Fest, I saw a young (biological) man, about 13 or 14 in a very pretty sundress. I told them it was a very pretty dress, and it looked very nice on them. They smiled brightly and said thanks. Their mother also thanked me.
I can see that tree has caused heaving in the sidewalk. I’ve known for years that the only time our city will repair a sidewalk is if the damage was caused by a “city tree”. This week I learned that the line for that kind of repair is about five years long. And they will only do the repair after removing the tree.
Be careful.
If that is your tree, not a “city tree”, they are probably within their rights to order you to remove it and to pay them their costs to repair their sidewalk that your tree has so comprehensively vandalized.
Certain raggedy wheels should do their damnedest not to squeak. This is one of those.
A toad. Kinda freaked my dog out. My dog is 65 pounds. This is good. I do not want such a gift in our bed at 2am.
He’s also afraid of spiders. Once a small spider crawled towards him. His eye’s got as big as saucers. He returned to a sitting position and backed away from that spider.
A local church sign.. The church does have some far right comments on their sign but I don’t think that matters here. It is something like:
Both Love and Hate have four letters. Friends and Enemies both have seven letters.
Later they added God and Joy have three letters.
I still can’t figure out why number of letters in words matter. I guess I can add that Sin and Fun also have three letters.
Religion and nonsense masquerading as profundity go together like PB and J. Which have different numbers of letters.
I doubt there’s any deeper meaning.
I was amused, then annoyed because there are so many unnecessary f-bombs on that site it just reads as kind of juvenile.
A barbarian unit, they killed my scout, the bastards.
It took a second, but I laughed.
First time I’ve used the google photos app on my phone, so I hope this works.
I have always been given to understand that one of the purposes of stained glass windows in churches (speaking from a European perspective) was to illustrate biblical stories. This was, back in the day, for the benefit of illiterate parishioners - the priest could point to the picture and tell the story.
However, I have not seen this before:
You’re probably going to have to click on the picture to see the full image.
Basically, more of a graphic novel approach. This is from Quimper cathedral in Brittany, and is one of maybe a dozen similar graphic stories. Interesting, huh? There’s something similar in the ancient church in nearby Locronan.

Beautiful! Could have used it for the monthly photo contest too.
Oooo - that’s a thought!
