Today in Civilization I Saw

I guess I’m missing the irony. Imagine the sign said “Game preserve. No hunting”.

I sure see either your or my “sign” as frustrating to wannabe poachers.

This afternoon I had a beer whilst being towered over by the sixteenth tallest lighthouse in the world.

The strangest thing - and the photo in the wiki article shows this quite well - is that it’s urban. You’re driving through town and suddenly, stone me, wtf, how did that get there?? Very odd.

This lighthouse is likewise in town surrounded by houses. Not real tall though.

It was going to Cleveland to fly over a Guardians game and then to a watch party for the new Superman movie.

I got the AC recharged at a mechanic’s place today, as I was waiting and wandering, I noticed some tires made by a company called “Triangle.” Struck me as a poor name for a tire company.

And my first association with “Triangle” as a company name is a horrible fire, which is also not something you want to associate with tires.

Today in civilization I was royally entertained while I ate lunch.

Not really sure if this is civilization or nature…

This was yesterday, at the Rock and Mineral show:

I went out to fool around with some long exposures:

Yesterday there was a parade of bizarre-looking track maintenance vehicles coming down the rail line right next to my apartment. The trains going by have been really slow for the past couple of weeks; hopefully they fixed whatever was causing that.

A couple of days ago I saw… this very civilized bus shelter. Click trhu for the full image

What does the sign say? Silver something, and something about Queen Elizabeth?

But yes, someone clearly cares about making their bus stop very nice.

Likely a QEII Silver Jubilee project, given that the poster is in the UK.

Sorry, didn’t see this as you didn’t @ me - I can expand on @Bookkeeper’s comments.

The bus shelter is in the village of Betchworth (Surrey), opposite the post office.

ETA - why it says that isn’t clear to me.
