Today is my birthday. I turn sixteen.

Happy Birthday!

I was listening to Time before opening this here post. Heh.

Your life doesn’t end at 16, it begins. Doors of opportunity open up, and you’re given new responsibility. You now have the opportunity to prove yourself to the world by getting a job and kicking some proverbial ass. Blow the first paycheck on whatever tools of decadence you feel is best, and then put aside money from each future paycheck for a automobile. After that, go on a pilgrimage, become a cynic, and report back to us.

Some relevant quotes from the recently late, great Hunter S Thomspon:

“Don’t take any guff from these swine.”

“Today’s pig is tommorrow’s bacon!”

Things DarkSideoftheFloyd has going for her:

Youth. We all wish we had it.

Listens to quality music instead of the forgettable crap most other 16y/o’s like.

Is able to regularly coherently post post to a fine board like this one. I doubt I would have at 16.

…and that’s based on my limited message board contact with you! I guarantee*, most anyone here would love to switch with you, Freaky Friday-style.

*Guarantee void in your state and mine

I doubt you still can now  Each word is only entitled to ONE place in the sentence

I’d love that too :D*

*Do I get her boobs too?

Yes, I think you should listen to Time, but not because you’ve wasted your life. Listen to Time, and realize that you have the best part of your life ahead of you, and you should go out, live, and have fun, so that when you’re 60 years old, you DON’T feel like you’ve wasted your life.

That’s what I’m going to do on my birthday, in 26 days…when I turn 30. <shudder>

Happy Birthday…probably belated by now.

Ahem…I stand by my post post.

EeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee!

heh heh. Now stop that, you! Many of us guys are over 18–we can go to jail just for letting that image develop in our brains.

Happy berfday. Eat cake. Blow on some candles. You have 2 more years on your goat initiation deferrment. Well, before we can videotape it legally, that is.

Damn lucky candles.Wish she’d blow on me

RIGHT!

Stop that! Nurse Bigbooty, bring the thorazine! Yes, some for me as well, thank you!

samples some of that birthday cake, flirts outrageously with DarkSide

Happy birthday! I remember when I turned 16: getting my drivers license, having to borrow my mom’s car, thinking it was so cool that I could drive to school periodically, and then quickly becoming tired of having to drive my friends everywhere (my birthday was early in the school year so I turned 16 before most). Ahhhh… those were the good days. Actually, these still are the good days.
Have fun with your new computer! Now you’ll be able to post in style! Got any plans for the celebration? Can I come?

Huh. I just realized that your birthday was yesterday. Well, then, I take back that Happy Birthday! Or maybe I just add a belated in the middle. And I guess I can’t come to your celebration anymore. Well, that’s a bummer.

Happy, er, belated birthday, Floyd!
Angst is for twentysomethings, go out and celebrate.

OK. Party’s over.
Now go clean your room and do your homework!
Don’t give me that look!
Wait til your father gets home!

(…ah yes, the joy of being 16 again…never fear, 18 and 21 are around the corner, and then it is downhill.)

Ah, I remember my 16th birthday (just over 3 years ago). Got hammered, played video games, had sweet time in general. Have a happy rest-of-your-life DarkSide.

Jeebus.

I was gonna commiserate and tell you that it’s normal to feel the pressure of time etc.

but then I realized that you are 6 months older than my daughter,
I need some Geritol, stat!
I hope you had fun–go listen to Dark Side of the Moon or something, eh?!

(and don’t believe that nonsense about Sweet Sixteen-16 can be rough).

Many happy returns of the day.

Bah! Dark Side of the Moon is such a sellout. For sweet sixteen you gotta do INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE!

DarkSide, you have shown yourself to be a perceptive, intelligent and passionate young woman during your time here. Unfortunately, thoughtfulness is not without its pitfalls in a world as full of crappy happenings as this one, and a tendency toward sadness is one of them. Keep your head up, and be proud of yourself! I hope you had a great time on your birthday.

To quote Pink Floyd:

If you didn’t care what happened to me
And if I didn’t care for you
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Passionate hmmm…better find a Flirt-With-A-Doper thread nearby then

‘Life is a short warm moment’. Make your moment as warm as you can. There is so much out there to explore and discover and find out about the world and everything in it.It’s a journey full of tears and heartbreak but also of joy and wonder.I just pray that you find someone who will be with you on the journey to share all the magical sights and sounds and feelings. It’s only just beginning.

You set sail across the sea
Of long past thoughts and memories.
Childhood’s end, your fantasies
Merge with harsh realities.
And then as the sail is hoist,
You find your eyes are growing moist

It’s a wonderful world out there. There are stars in the skies and a universe full of dreams of what you can be and secrets, some of which you know already, some which will take a lifetime of finding. And however dark it gets, sometime the clouds will part and a star will shine down on you.Don’t be scared of the journey,be ready to set off on a discovery of yourself, finding your deepest thoughts and fears, realizing your most cherished dreams and being aware that the universe is filled with travellers each making the journey. Some may pass by fleetingly, others will be alongside you for longer. Some will go their own ways, others will be taken to follow a different destiny.Every one of them will make a memory in your life and you in theirs. You have many travellers with you, seen and unseen, praying for you, guiding you back when you wander away and holding you when the clouds cross the moon and you can’t see the light any more. You are not alone.Travel well sweet angel.Happy birthday sweet sixteen

For my 16th birthday, my parents surprised me with…a CAR! Very very cool.

This was 1983, and the car was a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme…the same make and model, incidentally, that the Wrigley family discovered buried in the sand on an episode of The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

It was a great car, it saw me through a lot of adolescent traumas and triumphs (including a memorable “parking” misadventure interrupted by an Ohio trooper), and I kept it until just a few months after DarkSideoftheFloyd was born.

I remember posting stuff like that (but back in my day it was mIRC)… now I’m looking at it from the other side.

Pass me my zimmer frame!
