About 7 seconds in, he says, in regard to the legislature, “The queer politicians have to go.” !!!
He repeats in all his commercials that he’s 1) “pro-life”; 2) a former marine; and 3) out to repeal “Obamacare.” That’s his whole platform. Well, he hammers home the point that he’s conservative, but, duh.
He’s running for the seat vacated by Dan Coathanger-- I mean, Coats. He’ll probably win, unfortunately, but if you live in Indiana, get out and vote against him, please. He’s even more extreme than Coathanger, who got re-elected I don’t know how many times.
Todd Young is scary. Honestly, he’s scarier than Trump, and if he were running for governor, we’d be moving to another state.
If you don’t live in Indiana, but you know someone who does, urge them to go to the polls to vote against this guy. I don’t care if a rubber chicken or the corpse of Barry Goldwater is running against him. (It looks like it will be Baron Hill.)
I’m always amused by people who have spent their entire career in politics criticizing career politicians. So that they can continue their career as a politician.
“Career politicians have to go” isn’t much better. Crafting the nation’s (or the state’s) laws is really not a job for amateurs. Especially when the lobbying groups get to use career schmoozers.
He’s definitely nuts. He’s also well on his way to being a career politician. Maybe he did say “career,” but it still sounds like “queer” no matter how many times I listen. Anyway. We need not to vote for this nut no matter what this one word is.
I’m imagining Young and his campaign consultants doing take after take of that ad, trying to get just the right slurred pronunciation of “career” so it sounds like “queer” but they can claim he’s saying career.
I live in Indiana and (IME) it is super right wing/conservative. If he plainly said queer I don’t think it would hurt him that much.
He says “career.” I think you should go ahead and blame him loud and long all over the internet for saying “queer” anyway. Making shit up over which to smear political opponents is long American tradition. Once upon a time you could have smeared him for being homosexual, even if he wasn’t. Now, you can smear him for being homophobic, even if he isn’t. Yay 21st century!
He speaks with a mushmouth, and says “career” politicians.
But so as to not misuse my time here in this pit thread, I would like to add:
Fuck Indiana Republican politicians. Fuck their religious bigotry laws, and fuck them in general.
Knowing he said “career”, it’s not hard to hear it. But hearing it the first time without warning, it sounds like “creer” with just the slightest slurring of the first syllable.
