Tom Green

I saw SNL last night, and it was my first real exposure to Tom Green. Is this a typical performance for him? It seems to me that he’s, you know… just not funny. At all. I mean, I knew people like that in high school- why aren’t they millionaire fiancees of Drew Barrymore?

Yeah, SNL is a pretty typical performance from Tom Green.

All I have to say about him is he’s an acquired taste. I didn’t like him much the first few times I saw him, but he’s grown on me.

That “Dog Show” sketch was without a doubt the absolute worst SNL sketch I have ever seen. I just kept wondering “What are the families and friends of these people thinking while watching this?” In the two Tom Green sketches I had the patience to watch, I don’t think he uttered one intelligible word.

Well, I think Tom Green is kind of a love him or hate him kind of person. He’s a bit obnoxious, and a bit over the top, but at times he can be hillarious.

Let’s see…rude and obnxious, licked his father. Yep, that’s Tom alright!

I’ve never seen anything of his that was remotely funny. One schtick he did on MTV was to annoy the crew of a Russian cruise ship. He went so far as to wake up sleeping crew members and harrass them and not stop. What he was doing wasn’t witty, just annoying. He’s lucky he didn’t get hurt. I was wishing he would. He was bothering some genuinely tired and very tough-looking people. If he approached me in a similar situation, I’d consider leaving him with a few broken bones and some internal bleeding.

Ha.

I guess he’s funny in a talentless, village idiot kind of way.

I got exactly one laugh out of last night’s SNL, and that was from the news. Tom is the most unfunny, untalented “comedian” I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe that they even let him host the show. I hope last night’s train wreck of a show puts his career in the downward spiral it deserves.

From what I’m hearing, I’m glad I fell asleep and missed SNL last night. To me, Tom Green takes Robin Williams’s natural unfunniness and takes it to a new level. Not only does he act like an 8-year-old on a sugar high [see Williams on the recent Whose Line], he has legions of fans who find this “brilliant.”

I hesitate to admit that I did chuckle at the dog dressed as a “Chinaman” (their word, not mine). But that tiny spark was quickly extinguished by Tom Green walking onstage with an obviously distraught and terrified squealing piglet. I was praying for him to adlib some way to deliver the piglet offstage but he insisted on continuing with the mindless sketch that just seemed to go on forever.

Tom Green=untalented annoying jerk.
He’s friends with MONICA LEWINSKY!

The “Dog Show” sketch was just horrible, and I can’t believe that no animal rights group has come out to protest it. That pig was absolutely terrified, the dogs were shaking… and for what, again? The whole sketch was just lousy, but that’s basically SNL at this point. The only real funny moment was Weekend Update, and their comment on Katharine Harris “…Ms. Harris, there’s a second setting on your makeup mirror: daytime. Use it.”

I didn’t see him on SNL but I really liked his show on MTV. Apparently I’m in the minority. The guy makes me squirm, I admit, but he also make me laugh. Hard.

I happened to turn SNL on just as that dimbass Dog Show sketch started. “Oh look, it’s Tom Green”. Now, that Dog Show sketch usually sucks anyway, but last night was the worst ever.

I’ve watched a few Tom Green Shows on MTV, and some of it is amusing, but I have often wondered if he’s ever seriously gotten his ass kicked for some of the crap he pulls.

His cancer special was interesting. The funniest thing I recall is when his parents were on vacation. He put a bunch of life-size paper mache statues of them in different sexual positions out on their front lawn. That was pretty amusing. Of course, I wouldn’t have laughed if I was either one of his parents…

9/10ths of the stuff Tom does is lame. The rest is priceless though. I always laugh when remembering the “slutmobile”.

I hate the Dog Show sketch. I always turn the channel when it comes on. Molly Shannon really irritates me (and it’s too bad that she has apparently signed a lifetime contract).

Tom Green needs to learn when to stop. The joke has ended, but Tom doesn’t know it yet.
I think he is funny at times, but when he just keeps flogging the bit to death, it makes me somewhat skittish.
He followed a pizza delivery guy on a recent episode. His “new business idea” was to undercut the pizza guy while he was delivering the pizza to the customer. On guy just stared at him…the other customer, chased Tom with a hammer. That was funny.

I love him. I think he’s hilarious. Most of the time. One of my favorites is when he ran around a little league soccer game kicking the ball around while carrying a stereo that was playing “La Cucaracha”.

They tell me some of his stuff is really funny, but I always miss that and see the crap.

Go figure.

Maybe Tom Green is funny, but I didn’t see it on SNL. What I I saw was another comedian who shoves something that’s “supposed” to be funny in your face.

I hung in because I foolishly thought the he and Drew Barrymore were actually going to be married at the end of the show. The fact that she didn’t show up after his unfunny performance WAS kinda funny.

Tom reminds me of those kids in junior high that used to make fun of the special ed kids and everyone would laugh with him in that pathetic “be part of the gang” type laugh.

I mean, he humiliates people for most of his comedy. I don’t find it amusing - I just see it as very hurtful. And, no, I’m not a fuddy-duddy or a wet blanket. There are levels of “humiliation for amusement” and Tom just takes it way over the top.
