No. Early on, he tried to say he was a distant relative, but he wasn’t related at all.
He was a heck of a fighter, though, while he lasted. Sadly, as so many fighters do, he lost himself to the “rewards” of the game.
The original claim was that his great-grandfather was John Wayne’s first cousin. IF. . . that is true, that would be first cousin three times removed.
I’ll let others try to track down that accuracy though. Personally I’m skeptical, and even if true, Morrison was definitely not Wayne’s great-nephew, which is typically cited.

I thought is HIV denial was limited to insisting that his own test was false positive. Turns out he was a full on conspiracy theorist about the existence about the virus at all. He really was a deeply damaged human being. The linked article is sad and disturbing.
