To be totally honest I don’t recall ever seeing anyone being modded just for “being a jerk”. It’s always “personal insults and being a jerk” “trolling and being a jerk” etc.

Beyond that, lots of people engage in behavior that could be called “being a jerk” without even being noted.

I’ve always thought the Don’t be a Jerk was more of a principle than an a rule.

I also don’t think it’s terribly relevant to the “no hate speech rule” because what is and isn’t hate speech is considerably easier to define and debate.

I’ve both noted and warned posters for just “being a jerk” many times before.
“Being a jerk” is one of the reasons you can click when giving a warning out and it’s clicked often.

I have, on occasion, Modded against “being a jerk.” Seeking those specific occasions would have provided Shodan with examples of how I made the distinction. Since “being a jerk” is rather vague, laying out rules to identify it is simply going to open the discussion to more “I disagree” exchanges whereas letting him seek out the actual examples would have provided him the sort of post that invoked that rule.

If you are accusing me of a rules violation, then please provide the cite, and explain why you are bringing it up. If this is another rule that you don’t enforce, or enforce sporadically, then explain the basis for your decision.

If it has nothing to do with the thread, then don’t bring it up.

If I had accused you of a rules violation, I would have done so as a Moderator.

The point of the comment was to demonstrate that you are predisposed to deny any statement I make, regardless of facts. If it bothers you to have that pointed out, stop doing it.
