If by “we” you mean a miniscule group that includes yourself, perhaps Muffin, and maybe a couple of others, I suspect that that may be true. However, the vast majority of posters actually post on the SDMB to entertain themselves by sharing their opinions and information, so your “we” is simply more hyperbolic ankle biting.
My comment, however, was in the context of Muffin posting repeatedly that I was being a meanie when all he had to do to keep the thread open was simply stop screwing around posting silly rants at me and actually address lekatt in a genuine discussion. That he has still failed to do.
I don’t feel victimized, but I am beginning to get bored.
I didn’t notice any postings of yours in that thread at all. What are you doing here, besides jumping at the chance to criticize the Mods at the drop of a hat?

Any mod that volunteers to tackle modding a lekatt thread has got to be a glutton for punishment. I think a lot of latitude is necessary just to keep everyone from sinking into the morass that is lekatt’s mind.

It was not veiled, but it was not an allegation. Kimmy made a claim that I thought everyone was picking on me. That is not true. Kimmy only posts to pick fights with the mods, but you occasionally post on other topics. So, perhaps you may or may not be included in the tiny group to which Kimmy belongs. I don’t know. I do not want to summarily include you in or exclude you from that group, thus my phrasing.

Please provide cites for your allegation that I repeatedly called you a meanie, or for that matter, called you any derrogatory terms that could be construed as calling you a meanie. The fact of the matter is that when I directed you to not close the thread, you became defensive.

The purpose of the thread is to “find out about lekatt’s beliefs.” Though my questions about lekatt’s beliefs, and his answers to my questions, it has become apparent that CUs are at the foundation of his belief system. Through my questions and lekatt’s answers, the nature and function of lekatt’s CUs is being disclosed by lekatt. That, quite simply, is genuine discussion.

I have asked you to provide proof of your assertion that “Every post of yours that you have quoted stands out as a snide attempt to make fun of lekatt, depending on what answer he gives.” You have conveniently ignored this request, obviously because you cannot justify, let alone prove, your allegation against me. When it comes to making an allegation of this sort, either put up your poof, or retract your allegation.
- You are confusing boredom with arrogance. Whether or not you are bored is irrelevant to whether or not the thread should be closed. I am not here to entertain you, and the threads that you monitor are not there for your entertainment. As long as we are having a civilised discussion in the thread, you would be best to keep your hands out of the thread and stop threatening to close it, given that you closed it down one already without just cause.

It is absurd, and grossly misleading, for you to say than when I have made over 10,000 posts in the last decade, of which very few are critical of the mods, and those which are critical are critical on specific points, such as your continued threatening to close the lekatt GD thread. Snarkiness aside, I have to agree you weren’t doing anything wrong in that thread, excepting maybe that one post that could have been perceived as a personal insult. Everything else is a legitimate question. (Disregarding questions that should have been moved here in the first place)
That said, I’m not sure I understand why any restrictions apply to lekatt in his own thread. I thought he was just barred from hijacking threads to talk about his beliefs. He should be allowed to quote any evidence he likes.
And, my snarkiness did have a point: I have yet to see a mod respond to being told “You MUST do this.”
Please, please, PLEASE! Don’t close down lekatt’s thread! Then the rest of us will have to endure his hijacks again!
Well, this isn’t really true.
But since I’m not a mode and can’t threaten to close down threads just because I feel they’re a waste of time or because they hurt my feelings (also: I don’t have a mode whistle), I guess I’m just going to have to learn how to get on with my life nevertheless!
If you have a question about a mod decision, asking that question in the thread itself simply derails the conversation. The thread is not about you and your beliefs about the rules of the SDMB forums, it’s about whatever is in the OP. It’s only polite (and more importantly it is the rules) that you take conversations on modding to ATMB.
To be fair, it’s pretty much a lost cause to "engage lekatt in a genuine discussion. That would require lekatt to also engage in a genuine discussion. In the latest batch of threads involved, I’ve gotten the impression that the mods are giving lekatt a freebie (including for slightly veiled insults to other posters) while taking everyone else to task.

The identifier is pretty simple, isn’t it? If they refer to mods as “modes”, then they’re more than likely part of the “nothing to add” crew.
tom, I’ve never been one to complain about mods, and frankly I think all of this poster-mod angst and bickering is incredibly tiresome and a serious detriment to the boards. But I have to say, as one who’s been reading this lekatt thread from the beginning, that if there’s one person there who’s baiting lekatt, insulting him, and generally being rude, it’s tomndebb. I think there are several people, including myself, attempting to have an actual conversation. Sure, there are a few drive-by idiots who swing through, point and laugh, and move on. But no one has maintained a consistent, ongoing mocking presence like you yourself have. It’s clear that you have serious issues with lekatt and his beliefs - understandably so. But if you’re unable to hold yourself to the same standards you’re asking us to maintain, you should excuse yourself and ask someone else to moderate that thread.
