tomndebb, why the animosity?

This is a point I made to Dio and he never got it.

There is a point beyond which you stop defending yourself.

When people are intent on discovering evil in your every word, intent on casting you as Satan, intend on intentionally distorting your words… You stop interacting with them.

Because there is nothing further to be gained.
There are only things to be lost.

So stop responding, stop defending yourself, stop being angry over it.

Leave it lie and move on with your life.

Because seriously, NOTHING HERE is worth it. It’s just a message board, with a bunch of total strangers that could be robots or 5 year old Chinese kids for all you know.

I myself am a 3 year old Alsatian in Des Moine, and not the 49 year old man from Minneapolis that I claim to be.

Let me add a caveat to this;

“Whether they are, or you just percieve them to be”

Because a fair amount of time, we’re just screwing ourselves over with our words and it isn’t evil intent on the other person’s side.

Which is where I think this situation is sitting.

I think I’d be pissed too if you kept PM’ing me about a non-warning with demands for point by point interpretations of a bunch of non-sense. It’s a message board. If one of the other poster’s is being mean to you, just ignore them.

You are a German Shepherd?
Peter Morris, you are being hyper-sensitive. Get over yourself.

Can I be a moderator so I can also develop an irrational compulsion to persecute the OP?

No. Unfortunately the irrational compulsion is a prerequisite for the position.

No they don’t. We have a Pit.

And while I found ibn’s constant and apparently willful misunderstanding of your point annoying, I’m unaware of that being against the rules.

Let it go, Peter. You didn’t get a warning, despite possibly warranting one (along with others).

Ibn didn’t accuse you of loving Nazis. He accused you of having a stupid argument, and tried to get you to realize that if you really believed that argument, it would imply you loved Nazis. You were left with the logical choice of either admitting you loved Nazis or admitting your argument was flawed.

I have no love for the occasional misconduct of mods here, but in this case I have to side with them.

I also agree with what was probably your intended argument. But what you actually wrote was easily dismantled by logic and rather than throwing a hissy fit you should have just admitted that you wrote a poorly formed argument initially and amended it to clarify your intentions.

Let it go.

If you do become a moderator, will you give him a warning? You might, right? I mean, if suitable bribes and burnt offerings and tribute was given…it’s not out of the question, correct?

This is only true if tomndebb puts on his official mod hat and declares I am the fucking playground monitor.

(I think he must do that hopping on one foot while balancing a porcupine on the end of his nose.)

(Porcupines have very small noses and are very difficult to balance.)

(The shoes must be green velour.)

(Jackboots come in green velour, but only from a small factory in Velur.)

(The Frogurt, of course, is also cursed.)

Possibly, but it has to be irrational. E.g., “I will not rest until Peter Morris pays for this marshmallow beanbag regatta!”

Vinyl Turnip and jackdivinci have both accurately described the situation. Ibn Warraq caught you in a logical inconsistency of a poorly framed argument, and he pointed out the ramifications of that position as stated. It’s a gotcha, that’s all it is.

With regards to supporting or not supporting the troops that fought the NAZIs, you made statements in that thread to the effect that all soldiers are bad, they only protect us against other soldiers. Even if true that soldiers only protect us against other soldiers, that is not necessarily a bad thing. You don’t get a vote on whether there are other bad soldiers attacking us, only if there are soldiers defending us. Your vote is to not have defenders. He pointed out we had soldiers fighting the NAZIs, and they were not “defending” us on US soil, so they must be bad by your premise. Either your premise is flawed or you don’t support the troops that fought the NAZIs. Notice that “Either”. That “Either” is critical. It should focus you on what you need to be looking at.

No, on both counts.

“Demand”? I’ve read the rules… somehow I missed that one. Regardless, I offer you this in earnest.

But not difficult for tomndebb, seeing as he has a large nose and the spines serve as an anchor.
