Tony Goes To The White House

Um, has it EVER been any secret that Tony Snow is a conservative activist?

This is a guy who used to fill in for Rush Limbaugh. He certainly wasn’t hired by Fox News because he was non-partisan. He’s been a conservative talking head for his entire media career, and anyone who thinks this move to the white house reveals any secret information is an idiot.

It’s the same job he’s been doing for many years.

Did PBS use the slogan “Fair and Balanced”? I am surprised they didn’t sue FOX.

It seems like a good move for the Bush Administration. Snow’s a likable guy, and knows the media. If anyone can put lipstick on the pig, he’s the guy to do it.

I don’t really see the outrage. Snow never made any secret of his conservative leanings. He’s leaving a conservative news outlet to work for a Republican president. What’s wrong with that?

Nothing all that wrong with it. Just given the tone this board usually takes with Bush and anything associated with him, I figured this would end up here eventually. Guess I was mistaken.

Chocolate is SO much better than strawberry (vanilla is for losers).

Yes, he was a speech writer for dear ol’ dad.

Damn right I am biased. However, I freely admit it. To me, Fox News and its “news” people for the most part are a few steps lower than what I scrape off the bottoms of my boots after I feed my chickens.

Snow’s always been openly conservative, and he’s now speaking for a conservative president. It makes sense. I actually want the White House spokesman to be a total shill/spinmeister, regardless of party/ideology. That way, we get to hear the preident’s agenda in all its “glory.” I can watch the PC’s* on C-SPAN and see exactly what the administration wants me to think. Then I can digest that and decide for myself whether or not it’s a crock of shit. If Snow’s good at shilling and staying “on message,” good for him. I guess my point is I want him to stay on point so that I can hear what the point actually is.

Here’s some citeness for you…

I take it back… Tony is not just a liar, he is a lying scumbag. He’ll fit right in at the White House.

Pssst: The cite that was asked for is your statement that Snow never told the truth.

But he’s been a conservative commentator for decades. Do you honestly think that your average liberal commentator couldn’t have decades of work picked to pieces to find lies, falsehoods, or other general garbage? Spend some time on a conservative web site, or even on factcheck.org, and you’ll see plenty of absues by liberal commentators.

I just don’t quite feel like playing “the equivalence game” right now. Except for one or two exceptions (such as William F Buckley), I’ve lost confidence in the “conservative” commentary over the years. Too many outright falsehoods, too much twisted or invented out of thin air. Too much of it deliberate. So no, I don’t wanna play “equivalence” right now.

So you retract the statement then?

What for? I think he’s a dirtbag, like his buddies in the White House and Fox News.

Why is it that the only defence conservatives ever seem to offer is tu quoque? Do you guys care about doing the right thing, or do you think it won’t matter what you do so long as enough false equivalences are drawn?

Careful there SteveG1, that attitude could cause clothahump to be ashamed of you!

If it’s only “conservative” commentators who do this, why not? Might I suggest that you tend to notice these things more and that they bother you more when done by folks whose politics you don’t share?

I notice the ones that piss me off or who are so blatantly obvious in their bullshit. I don’t feel the need to apologize, or feel bad, or any other thing about it. So what? Besides, this thread was not about any liberal commentators, it was specifically about SNOW. Stop the derailment attempts.

Let’s look at some of the current “stars” of the so called conservative view, commentators, “news” personalities, and plain assholes…

Michael Savage (not even his real name, it’s Michael Weiner)
Rush Limbaugh (insert flaming Nazi gasbag joke here)
Sean hannity
Bill O’reilly (falafel boy)
Ann Coulter
David Horowitz
James Dobson
Michelle Malkin
Tony Snow (for the reasons I already gave)

Someone else can come up with a longer list. I’m not interested.
From the article “The right wing’s summer of hate”:

Even Slate gets it. Belligerant, well-designed, abuse, yada yada yada.
So please explain why I should feel bad, or need to provide a pile of cites, merely to justify that they are a bunch of hateful dishonest scumbags?

Personally, I was rooting for Al Franken. It’s an outrage Al didn’t get the nod. Just another proof how corrupt Republican spoils machine is (if one needed one).

I’m not defending anyone. I just don’t like it when someone says something dumb like “Snow never told the truth.” Sweeping generalizations don’t do anyone any good. Ever.
