too much internet in the office

I saw a recent thread from someone who wanted a way to time their internet use to control their excess. I want to take it a step further: I know how much time I am on the net in the office, and it is too much. For me it’s not a problem of exceeding a total time at one stretch, but going back and forth all day long. Whenever I lose momentum on what I am doing at work, I find myself surfing. It never uses more than 15 minutes at a go, but there are lots of gos. I don’t even dare think of how much it adds up to.

So for me the solution is simple. I want to be able to control it so that I can only access the internet before or after regular work hours, and during my lunch hour. Can anyone suggest a software (freeware or regular commercial product) that can do this - give me small, timebound windows for internet access? What about programes like NetNanny, CyberSitter, etc? Can those do it?

you might be better off asking a mod to shift this to General Questions.

Good advice. Dear Moderator, could I ask you to shift this to GQ? thanks

I know it can be done with Cyberpatrol Lan because it was being used by one of our d**kwad admins to keep me (and only me)from accessing Hotmail during the day when others could access it just fine. Talk about your powermongers!

Ok… I seem to have strayed from the OP for just a little bit.

Seriously though… I know CyberPatrol Lan will do what you want, but I’m not sure if that feature is available in the local version of Cyberpatrol.
