With finals boards coming up, I need to start spending way less time online.
I would really like to remove the temptation, or at least put up a barrier. Does anyone know of a program I could use that keeps track of my online time in a given day, and after a certain amount (say, an hour) disconnects my ass and won’t let me dial back up?
It seems like a good idea that someone must have had before. (I did find several timers, but they were all by the month, for keeping track of ISP charges. I want one that will limit me by the day.)
Yeah, it seems like a silly thing to do, but when you’re slogging through the endless stack of notes, it’s entirely too tempting to just “hop on and check my e-mail”.
Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure this is what you are looking for but…
I have a program called Cyber Patrol. It is intended to keep kids from accessing the seedier spots on the 'net and it has a timer.I’m not 100% sure if it will cut you off, but I believe it ‘captures’ the screen and you have to override it.
I DO know that if my kids go somewhere they shouldn’t, it won’t show what is on the site but , instead shows a badge and “Cyber Patrol” on the screen.
I suspect this is what it does if the timer limit is reached.
Just a thought…
You could just get one of those timers that plugs into an outlet and times your lights while you’re on vacation or something. You could set it for an hour after you log on and when you time was up the computer would shut down. Doesn’t keep you from plugging back in and signing on again, though…
