Too Much Xmas Music?

Actually Christmas music on the radio isn’t much of a problem for me. In the Seattle area, only the Christmas specific stations bother playing holiday music at this time. For the rock/pop/hiphop stations in the area, they never go all-holiday and only really feature the music in the last couple of days. Which is a shame because that tends to be often the best holiday music. Wouldn’t you much rather hear “Christmas in Hollis” or the Kink’s “Father Christmas” than the umpteenth version of “Silver Bells”?

I prefer zero until at least the week of. But then, I’ve also lost most of my holiday/celebration spirit over the last few years. They just don’t seem to really matter that much anymore.

Growing up, we had a little organ in the house for my music lessons. My sister would occasionally noodle around on it and almost without exception would play (badly) Christmas music. Year round. I grew to utterly despise Christmas music at any time. Fucking HATE it!

This year, I saw my first Christmas commercial on TV before Halloween. Are you shitting me?!? Arrrrgh!

I started boycotting Hallmark stores a few years ago when they decided to start leaving their Christmas ornament displays up as a permanent element. Bastards.

I tolerate (barely) Christmas music on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at my various family visits, but that’s about all I can stomach without wanting to bludgeon. On the upside, I have never actually bludgeoned anyone due to hearing Christmas music. Yet…

I absolutely hate christmas music, if the radio starts playing it, I’ll make sure to turn it off asap. Nothing puts me in a state of murderous rage faster than shopping for christmas presents, and all the stores keep playing that horrible music.

Oh, and I think I pointed it out last year, but listen to that song “Last Christmas” I think it’s called. Listen to how he sings “last christmas, I gav you my heart, but the very next day, you gav it away. this year, to sav me from tears…”
I hate that song, and I hate the guy who sings it.

I was about to post a thread just like this. I hate Christmas music. I can listen to some on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, that’s about it.

I can listen to “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” or that 80’s new-wave one (can’t remember the name, sang by a girl) a few times. Otherwise I turn the station as soon as Christmas music comes on.
