For some reason, there aren’t too many music threads posted in here–tis all movie and television stuff (bah!). Since music tends to be one of the only things I care about, I am curious to see what all of you like.
So, let’s see your top ten favorite albums.
Only rule: No “Greatest Hits” or other compilations.
A daring pick … most sources I have read prefer the US version of the album, which had a couple of ringers added. Or is it that you disqualified the US version on the basis of those changes?
I just think the original flowed better. For the US release, four great songs were taken off and replaced by one great song (White Man in Hammersmith Palais), three good songs and one, my opinion, kinda crappy song (Jail Guitar Doors). It makes for more of a “cut and paste” effect, I think.
In no order…
15. Revolver - Beatles
3. A Wizard/A True Star - Todd Rundgren
5. Aereoplane - John Hartford
11.Greatest Hits - Sly and the Family Stone It’s on Rolling Stone’s top 10…
8. 99th Floor - Moving Sidewalks
10. Box Set - Robert Johnson I know… “no compilations”… it’s a FAV… deal with it.
14. This Is The Moody Blues - Moody Blues Another compilation, but the way they cut these tracks together is better than anything they did in their first 5 albums…
2. Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix
12. Who’s Next - Who
Controversial, even by my own standards - I mean, the Bangles ahead of The Beatles? “The Bends” as the best Radiohead album?? No B-52’s??? But there you go.
