:smack: Can’t forget number
20. Play Catch
Not just for males. Going out and playing any kind of catch passes the time well and can actually be FUN! Imagine that.

20. Play Catch
Not just for males. Going out and playing any kind of catch passes the time well and can actually be FUN! Imagine that.
I don’t know if this has been posted yet, but:
19. Get really, really, really pissed.
We’re talking full-on, complete, three-sheets-to-the-wind drunk. (Just don’t post on the boards or the Mods will kill me.) It tells you a lot about the world and yourself.
Pelvic Thrusts? they called THAT CPR? Man, the class I took in Scouts was BORING…Woulda been a heckuva lot more fun if it were co-ed and pelvic thrusts were involved!
15. Enjoy the Scent of a Flower
*There’s a quote that goes “…stop and smell the roses” for a reason, you know. The smell of flowers can really be a sweet thing, provided you’re not allergic or anything. And there’s so many varying and vast smells too. Each different kind of flower has it’s own unique smell. Roses, Daisies, Tulips, Forget me Nots!..so many to choose from. *
14. Apoligize if You’re Really Wrong
I once read that one of the hardest things to say in life is “I’m sorry”. I have no idea if that’s true or not, but it does make sense. I know a lot of people who have a hard time admitting when they’re wrong, myself sometimes included. But sometimes if you’re in the wrong and know you are, or learn you are, it’s best to just swallow your pride and apoligize. Not saying most here don’t do that or are too prideful…just saying if the situation ever arises, saying sorry, while not always making things better, sometimes really shows you care and can at least admit it.
13. Ride the Merry Go Round
WHOOO! Love this one. What person has never rode a merry go round? Anybody? Well, leave it for someone to eventually quote this and tell me they haven’t…but man, I don’t know of a single person around here who hasn’t. Whether you prefer the horse or one of the benches, riding a merry go round is one of the whole points for going to a fair. And it’s such a tame ride too, anyone can go on it and appreciate it. And dig the music… Hmm Okay, so maybe the music can be a little annoying, but the ride is great for anyone from 1 to 100.
12. Believe in Santa
Again, if you don’t observe the regular Christmas holiday or celebrate it, then this wouldn’t pertain to you, but if you do, I think that every kid should believe in Santa at least once in their life. I realize that many parents don’t tell their children about this belief and are upfront about…so let me remind all that, again, this list is just my own opinion. YMMV greatly. But I always thought half the fun at Christmas was the anticipation of wating for Santa Claus,…watching out the window for his sleigh…leaving out the traditional milk and cookies. One year, the local news station here actually would INTERRUPT shows with “newsbreaks” of tracking a “UFO” in the shape of a sled and 8 animals. I thought that was the cutest thing. I can just imagine what the kids thought when they saw it. And they had about 4 of these “Newsbreaks”…all at night on Christmas Eve. So yeah, believing in Santa, recounting A Visit From St Nick, and being overjoyed in the morning at his stop at your house is something that is like none other.
11. Laugh
A chortle, a giggle, a titter, a guffaw, a snort, a cackle, a bellybuster. Any kind of laugh, whether it’s a subtle one or that has you rolling around on the floor. I think that laughing adds 5 minutes to your life every time you do it (okay, not really, but it would be nice if it did). I hope you had your laugh today.
I’ve done everything so far except for watch It’s a Beautiful Life, and i don’t have much interest in that, I’m afraid.
And I don’t really like pie. Any kind, really, although I have eaten it.
Hahah, tell me about it.
But no…Pelvic thrusts aren’t a part of actual CPR, they are two different things. I was just throwing IN Pelvic thrusts as knowledge to have.
Top 10.
10. Drink Hot Chocolate with Mini Marshmellows.
This defines Winter and cold weather…and if it doesn’t…well, it should. Hot Chocoate is simply the best on cold mornings and nights, especially if you enjoy it in front of a fire with a loved one. And you must have mini marshmellows! God! What kind of a person are you if you don’t?! Okay, so maybe some here and in this world don’t like Hot Chocolate,…that’s fine, but again, how do you know you don’t like it? You must have tried it once before, didn’t you? So there you go, you’ve done it once in your life. But seriously, I think that hot chocolate is just a need in life, kinda like oxygen (haha, okay, I wouldn’t go that far, but you see my point).
9. Get An Education
*Whether it’s gong to school, being home taught, or even teaching yourself, I think that EVERYONE in the entire world should have, at least, the oppurtunity to get some education. We never really stop learning in life, and to be taught the basics like reading, writing, basic math, even the very least you should know, is just something, I think, everyone should be able to have…if not more. *
8. Color
Give a box of crayons and a coloring book to every kid in the world (and every adult too) and I think most everyone would stop fighting wars to sit down and color. Okay, that is a hyperbole…but who really knows one way or another? Coloring is fantastic. For any age. Similiar to other things on this list, I can’t think of anyone who’s never colored anything. Give a pack of crayons to a kid and they’ll either use them…or eat them…but either way, they’re getting joy out of it (and maybe even a good snack!). Creating a picture of your own colors of choosing is just something that I, personally, could do for hours. Just remember to stay in the lines, now!

7. Receive a Hug and Kiss**
Hugs may actually be the best thing in the world. Whoever invented the hug is a great person. And kisses aren’t that shabby either. Whether it’s an eskimo kiss, a butterfly kiss, a kiss on the forehead, or even a blown kiss, kisses are the one of the simpliest and best ways of showing affection. Everyone in their life should have no fewer than 100 hugs and kisses, but at the least, everyone should have one.
6. Watch a Sunset or Sunrise.
Yeah, I know, really cliche-ish, huh? But most of the things on this list are like that. I think watching a sunset or sunrise is something that everyone should witness once. The start of a new day with new goals and new oppurtunities and new chances. Or to see the end of one and reflect on ways to make the next one better. Some of the colors that come into the sky during one of these moments is just breathtaking. I think I may actually watch one tonight.
5. Have a Homecooked Meal.
*NOTHING beats a meal made at home by mom or dad or whoever you lived with growing up–Or even yourself. Nothing beats a meal made from scratch with effort and real ingredients. You can love your microwavable dinners and fast food and low carb suppers all you want, but cherish the homecooked meal. Just thinking about it makes me long for it. *
4. Experience Snow
Okay, so maybe you live in a place that gets a lot of snow already…and maybe you’re tired of it. Well, that’s okay. That means you’ve already fullfilled this one many times. But some people out there have actually NEVER seen or been in snow. Can you even imagine that? EVERYONE should not only see snow sometime in their life, but dare I say they should even PLAY and BE in it. Snowmen building, making snowangels, having a snowball fight. And nothing beats having an actually White Christmas (which is what this one originally was “Have a White Christmas”, which still holds true; I think everyone should have at least ONE Christmas that is snowy, but I later decided to expand it to experience snow in general). So yes…just see and be in snow all round. If you’ve had enough of it or get tired of it quickly because you live in Canada or Alaska or St Petersburg or some other place that gets a lot of snow, then that’s fine…you’ve fullfilled this one already and can get out if you want asap…:p…but don’t tell others that snow sucks if they haven’t yet had the chance to actually see it for themselves. I remember waking up on Thanksgiving day and going to the window and seeing that it snowed overnight. I was SO happy! It was even my 5th birthday. So yes…snow? Something everyone should have…even if it’s only one time.
Put out a fire.
Not just to have a fire extinguisher at home and believe that you know how to use it, but actually put out a fire and know what that surge of adrenaline feels like when you realize you have the power to stop your whole home from being destroyed.
I’ve grabbed extinguishers and ran about six times so far, and each time, it’s a rush.
3. Own a Pet
It doesn’t matter what kind of pet. ANY pet would suffice. Cat. Dog. Horse. Hamster. Snake. Tarantula. Fish. Just something that is a living, breathing animal. If you’re allergic to something…well, then just get something else. But owning a pet teaches you so much. It can teach kids early on about taking care of another thing, it can provide companionship, it can cure loneliness, they can become, in part, another member of the family. I know people who consider their pet’s live more important than any humans. I can understand if you don’t like animals, but who knows what could win you over with a puppy look, or a cat’s purr and rub up against you? Animals are just best friends, simply put…or they can be. So no matter what kind of animal you get, own a pet sometime in your life.
2. Have a Best Friend
Everyone should have someone they can talk to, or have fun with, or go places with. People you can experience stuff with and who you can turn to and say “Did you see that?” just to prove you’re not crazy. Someone who would be there for you when you needed them…or who you can come to with anything on your mind. And it can BE anyone…that’s the best thing about best friends. Your best friend could be your neighbor, a friend from childhood, your husband, your wife, your dad, your mom, any relative, someone you work with…anyone. To have someone to help get through life and have both good times and bad with is someone that shouldn’t be denied anyone. At some point in EVERYONE’S life, I think they should have a best friend. Just someone who you can lean on and even trust. And no, being “your own best friend” doesn’t count.
This reminds me of this one time during my freshman year of college. I went to school in the northeast US, and it was late November, and it started to snow that night, and it was the frist snowfall of the season. Well, I remember walking down the dorm hall and passing one of my friends rooms to see her kneeling on her bed and staring out her window. I didn’t think much of it, went to the bathroom, and on my return trip, she was still there. It was then that I rememberes she was from Hawaii. I walked in and said something to the effct of,
“Never seen snow before?”
She ssaid she hass seen snow before (various trips here and there) but never a snow storm. SO I said,
“Well, get your coat and let’s go outside.”
The look on her face as millions of flakes were falling (the first snow storm happened to be a HUGE snowstorm) was amazing to me. The fact that she could get so much pleasure from just watching this thing I’ve took for granted all my life because I grew up with it.
Of course, by the next day, she was already complaining that it was too cold, and she couldn’t get to class without falling on her ass ten times.
I have done everything Idlethoughts has listed!!! except for haunted houses. I’ve never been in a real hauted house like the “Warrens” but I’ve been to the commercial ones where its all set up to spook you!
I can’t wait for #1, the anticipation is killing me.
Thank you for sharing that, bouv. I smiled while reading it.
Okay, I’m at number one…here we go…let’s end this list.
Okay…so you aren’t in love or think love is a “sham”, that’s okay. You don’t need to be in love to hear the words “I love you”. Okay,…so maybe you came from a bad childhood, and didn’t hear it much or at all from your parents…that’s okay. You don’t need to have heard it from just them. See, the words “I love you” are SO versatile. They can come from anyone, literally, and mean about 10 different ways. But all of them are affectionate and a good thing. Everyone should have someone who loves them and who’s said these three important words. Hearing the words “I love you”, I think, is one of the most important things in this world. I was thinking earlier of having this one be “Be/Fall in Love”…but see, that just doesn’t quite get the full effect and point I want to convey. Because you don’t always have to be in love to hear or have these words said to you. So yeah, everyone should be told from someone else “I love you”…even if it’s just ONCE in their life,…but man…I certainly hope it’s not just that many times.
So there you have it. The Top 100 Things (in my opinion) That Everyone Should Do, Have, Or Experience at Least ONCE…in Their Entire Life.
YMMV, of course, and I did LOVE reading the other suggestions that people posted in here. By all means, don’t stop just because I’m done with my list. I’d love to hear others that people think…and I’d love to hear thoughts and opinions about my list. Good or bad feedback.
It took 6 months to make, and for the first time, it’s all online.
Thank you all who followed along while I posted it.
Then congrats…you’ve done everything my list…cause that’s what I meant.
That’s another thing I wanted people to do if they don’t mind… Reply and tell me how many from my list you’ve done.
Me, I’ve done them all.
Oh yeah, I drove a Mercury Capri. I miss that car. It was the coolest little convertable on the road.
My must do’s
**Watch Seven Brides for seven brothers **
Watch The Princess Bride
Play Final Fantasy(any one) or Zelda to their fullest, without the book, just once.
Drive across country in a convertable.
Drive from Oregon to Nevada. (this is the most boring yet most settling experience once you’ve finished the trip)
Live overseas for at least two years. See how green the grass really is, from any country.
Eat an insect (Do it, you’ll be glad)
Climb a 5.9 or better rated cliff. Talk about adrenaline rush.
Play poker.
Hahaha, I actually HAD Watch the Movie The Princess Bride on an early edition of this list. As you can probably guess, this list has gone through many changes in 6 months…but for the last month or so, it’s been the same and the "final’ one.
But yeah…I had that on mine early on when I first made it.
I’m missing #76 and #16. And I’m only 25!
I beg to differ, slightly. If able, everyone should hike to the top of a mountain. Not drive up, take a ski lift, helicopter, but walk up. Work for it. Just make sure there’s a view at the top before going. Well, I suppose you could learn a few things if there wasn’t a view, too, but it’s more fun if there’s a view.
Also Float Down A River. Canoe, raft, kayak, inner tube, doesn’t matter. Drifting along in the current of a river watching the world go by is a great thing.
I’d also like to add Have Great Sex, Be Naked Outside, and Go Skinny Dipping.
Nice list. I’ve done 'em all. I sing more in the car than in the shower, though.
I don’t know CPR/First Aid and I wouldn’t ride a rollercoaster under any circumstances. Otherwise, I’ve covered the list. Good list, too.
