Hey everyone. I’m new here, and although I’ve only been around for about a week I have to say I have greatly enjoyed skimming through and reading posts from so many of you. I hope to have the opportunity to get to know lots of you better around here, and I appreciate those of you who have taken the time to say hello or welcome.
But enough of that stuff… So I’m making Rice Krispy treats last night to take to my daughter’s daycare center and it dawned on me that something I hadn’t seen around here was a list of how the best things in life are often the simple things. Rice Krispy treats, for example. So I figured maybe I’d brave the wilds of the slow server jungle this morning and see if anyone wants to take part in compiling such a list. I figure we could turn it into a book, publish it, and all make heaps of money. After all, how many versions of those “Lessons for Life” books have been sold now?
So… here’s a few to start it off. Come out, say hello, and add your contributions to the project.
Rice Krispy treats…
Sitting on the back porch with a loved one on a warm spring evening looking at the stars…
Seeing that jerk that was going 90 when he sped around you and cut you off on the highway sitting on the shoulder explaining to the state patrolman why he was in such a hurry…
Wandering around the internet for years looking for a great place to hang out and then suddenly wandering on the SDMB…

Night Swimming. I grew up on a lake, and there is nothing better than swimming at night, the water warmer than the air temperature, floating and gazing at stars. (see the REM song for a good idea of what it’s like)
Good additions… I was afraid for a little bit there that my very first ever topic would just fade away and slip right off the front page!
Sleeping is a good one… and pets are always a comfort. I used to have cats, but they moved to live with my parents when my daughter was born. We still have dogs… big dogs.
Night swimming… I can “almost” relate to that. I’ve never been much of a swimmer, but I used to love to go camping and just lay out under the stars at night.
How long do you guys think the list has to be before we have a shot at publishing and getting rich?!
