Again, it was another “I don’t do that kind of cooking” challenge. When will they learn that you do the kind of coking your customer wants.
Dave rocked in the first in two, second in the third. I’m not sure that Dave’s forgetting deserved being eliminated, but I’d rather see him go than Tiffani. He isn’t just stable enough to hold up under the demands of running a restaurant. Tiffani was a disappointment this time. I’m not a big fan of hers. but I generally respect her cooking.
I wonder how much down time there was between the original episodes and the Las Vegas part. Certainly enough for Tiffani to see herself on the show. . . and not like what she saw. That was an interesting comment. . . that she was a new person after seeing what she saw.
And too bad that Dave’s restaurant closed down. But I’m betting he’ll do OK with all the favorable comments about his food that he got on the show. Some restaurateur will be willing to put up with Dave’s unstable personality in order to take advantage of his food wizardry!
Tiffany still doesn’t get the concept of cooking for her customers. Even Harold gets it even though it’s “not what [he] does”.
Pretty weird that none of them went for the obvious foodstuffs for the High Rollers. The first thing I thought of was caviar. At least one of them did lobster.
Too bad Dave couldn’t get his act together enough to come up with a third dish for that last challenge. I liked him and all his tearful ways. Buck up Dave, and remember you’re not anyone’s bitch, bitch.
I’m rooting for Harold and not just because he’s really hot in his specks but because unlike Tiffany, it’s not all.about.him. and what he thinks people want.
I was not surprised to see Dave get the boot, simply because I knew that Tiffani was probably safe, given the fact that she is a controversial character. Having her around makes for better reality TV.
I have always been in Harold’s corner, and if satisfying the customer has anything to do with the final challenge, he should be the winner.
A couple of questions: Does the pencil that is permanently behind Harold’s ear bug the crap out fo any one else, or is it just me?
Did any notice Tiffani’s lobster preparation? I could swear that the legs of the bug were moving when it hit the pan…
I’m not quite sure how Dave lost to Tiffani. Sure, he screwed up royally by forgetting a dish. But still, he had a first place showing (with the poker pros) to balance out his last place showing (with the acrobats.) Tifanni was last with the poker pros (and possibly with the “high rollers”?), and didn’t take first place with anyone.
Apparently the judges thought Dave’s brain fart was a bigger deal than the fact that his food was better liked than Tiffani’s pretty much across the board – which is an interesting choice for a show that’s supposed to be about cooking.
Dave came in second with the high rollers (they didn’t like T’s food). He came in first with the poker players, and the Cirque de Soliel liked each of his two dishes better than any of T’s three. She came in dead last in all three groups. There’s no way she should have beat Dave out. (except she’s a better reality show character than he is). BTW, again Tom shows why he needs to be just a judge (if he’s even remotely connected) and the show demonstrated why they need a mentor in the kitchen with them.
But then, the whole episode seemed like crap. All along they’ve been saying “we’re taking the final three to Vegas for the final competition” and then last night to them and the audience “Ha ha, no we’re not, fooled you!” What the hell was that? It wasn’t a “fun reality twist” - it was just stupid. I’ll watch the last show to watch Harold win (has anyone really liked any of Tiffani’s food since the pumpkin in the very first episode?), but next season? No. Not unless they fix things.
