Top Chef: Texas - Last Chance Kitchen

I watched the first episode of Top Chef: Texas: Last Chance Kitchen . It’s a webisode that’s basically a knock-off of Survivor’s Redemption Island. Which is basically a knock-off of a loser’s bracket an any double-elimination tournament.
It seems like they haven’t or didn’t tell the contestants in the winner’s bracket about it which I think is good. Mean but good. It gives us a lot of opportunity to see exiting chefs be given a reprieve.
I’m not sure how the contestants, or even the tv audience, will feel about a chef that may have lost really early on in the season, returning at the end.
It’s only a 7 minute webisode, and has Tom running the challenge and judging it too.
Certainly an interesting twist!

FlightlessBird - I’m sorry, I didn’t read your OP thoroughly (or at all, apparently). Please ignore my previous post.

I guess you really can’t talk about this without spoiling the previous episode. But since it’s already aired I guess it’s not a spoiler.

Week #2! Andrew was the reigning Loser. Keith got eliminated from the main competition and gets informed of his “Last Chance” how? A letter in his suitcase! What? That’s the best way to tell him? Plus the letter was lacking in specifications. “You have another opportunity to prove yourself.” They need to figure out whether they want to keep the surprise going for as long as possible, or make it a big fanfare: Dun-dun-ta-dunnn You’re still in!
So he goes to the kitchen with his tackle-box of knives and Tom tells him and Andrew that they have 10 min to prep 6 ingredients then afterwards create a dish using them. With a time limit I was assuming it would be difficult to prep 6 items. But it didn’t seem to phase either of them. Especially since Kieth took a lazy stroll over to his station and unfolded his knives and put on his jacket. It wasn’t like either was rushing, so I’m not sure what the time limit was about. In Tom’s instructions he didn’t mention a time limit on cooking the dish, but there was one. Complete with a “Hands up. Utensils down.” kind of ending.
I like that the chefs seem to be nice to each other, but I don’t think that’ll always be the case. So I’m gonna keep watching and time willing writing a tiny recap.

It’s only a 7.5 min clip so if you have the time, I suggest watching it to see who won!

This is one of those silly things that bother me once I notice them.

It should be “Utensils down. Hands up.”
