Top Gear Live

Just bought my tickets for Top Gear Live in Dublin for November…I don’t normally post about this sort of thing, but I am so stoked about this! I managed to get a backstage tour thrown in as well!

My eight-year-old son doesn’t know it yet, but he’s coming along too. He’s the biggest Top Gear fan ever…he was able to recognise a Maserati Quattroporte aged three.

Anyone else planning to catch the tour?

I’m tempted but I heard the tickets are a bit on the expensive side and what with this recession etc. Also I imagine it’ll be a mad skang fest, no offence to skangs everywhere.

It’s in Ballsbridge. Skangers in Dublin 4? Surely not!

Skangers now have GPS, they can find it, and the D4 police aren’t as discerning as they used to be. They have alot of car shows up the road from me, beside the airport. If I wanted to attend one I think I’d bring my ax-handle with me, well ropey. I hope you have a great time though!

Top Gear is one of the few shows that I would absolutely love to visit, but due to geographical circumstances it’s kinda hard.

So I, for one, do envy you a lot!
And what’s a skang?

A skanger is an Irish variant of the chav subculture.

Hey, that’s two new words in a day! Thank you.

I consider myself enlightened!

(and on a Friday of all days  )

Are you in the US? Closest analogue would be trailer trash, rednecks or gangbangers. Some combination of all of them really with a few Celtic and Man. United jerseys thrown in.

Nope. Right between you and the US.

We just call those guys “hnakkar”, which is rednecks translated into Icelandic.

Ok I have a hijacking question for you, is Iceland really all that expensive? I see you can get cheap flights from Ireland to Iceland now but everyone I tell says “oh but it’s really expensive there”.

Not that expensive, actually.

Had some Swedish friends come over in August and they were really surprised how much they could get for their money. This is mostly due to the fact that the ISK has dropped close to 50% against the Euro since last year.

So if you have the chance, and don’t mind crappy weather, I’d definitely recommend a trip!

It can’t be any crappier than here!
You should check it out yourself, might be cheaper than you think to come to Dublin for Top Gear. http://www.plusferdir.is/

Good prices a week before Top Gear gets there

Might just go then; enjoy (quite) a few pints at the Temple Bar and do some Christmas shopping.

Worth considering…

Well if you do make it, pm us and we can arrange a mini-gathering of sorts.

Will do. And same for you and Iceland.

Sounds good to me.
