It’s a religious satire starring Jena Malone, Macauluy Culkin, and Mandy Moore that lampoons false piousness.
Okay, on “10 things”, your opinion and all. I didn’t like it much. Lets see your list, I did not mean for mine to be authoritative, just a working list to start this.
I have seen The Graduate several times. To me it fails to make the genre on two criteria. It is really a post college movie and I thought it more a light hearted drama than a comedy film. I think it is a very good movie, just not in the genre actually. IMDB does consider it a Drama / Romance / Comedy. I am not sure if this supports you or me.
Mean Girls is pretty good.
“I think we should all just stab Caeser.”
I saw “Valley Girls” listed but recall the title was “Valley Girl”, and I though this was a really good romantic comedy for that time.
That was about St. Elmo’s Fire – and I think the same thing about Harold and Kumar. They visit a college, but I think it is more about what happens after college. It’s more along the lines of St. Elmo’s Fire (which I love) and Reality Bites (which I think bites).
That’s a fair complaint. I guess **H&KgtWC ** does not fit. Call it a road movie comedy instead or just a stoner movie?
phungi, thanks for the correction, it was Valley Girl (1983) with a 5.9 rating on the IMDB. The last three on my list, were last minute additions.
Road Trip was pretty good; I’d say 6.3 is a fairly accurate rating.
I’d recommend checking it out, there are some pretty funny parts…
I loved Road Trip. For me it’s the best of all those movies, the recent ones at least.
How about The Stoned Age? That was high school in the 70’s/early 80s.
The Stöned Age (1994) 5.8
I never even head of this one. It looks like it was a small release, low budget movie. What made it memorable?
What, no love for Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion?
SUPERBAD!
Saved is a really good movie. It’s set at a religious High School
Harold and Maud for all time champ.
I love the dance sequence at the end of the movie. I love this movie.
My addition would be Just One of the Guys.
I wouldn’t count that in this category. Do you really think it fits?
Harold and Maude (1971) 8.0 on the IMDB, A great movie, but was it really a high school or college comedy? I don’t remember school having any play in this movie. I recall funerals, suicides attempts and of course the funniest 80 year old ever.
Nice addition, Just One of the Guys (1985) 5.7
If I remember correctly, the best joke is that as a boy, she looks like Ralph Macchio. I liked the fact the brother and sister actually got along and seemed more like real siblings than sitcom siblings.
Ralph Macchio with nice tits.
Horse Feathers (1932) 7.7
So you have seen it then?
Good addition, it is overwhelmingly about the crazy staff instead of the crazy students though.
Ummmm…
Have we forgotten Dazed and Confused? Not only a great high school movie, but a great movie overall.
It’s in my op, IMDB voters gave it a 7.4 rating. I like it a lot, but it is over 10 years old and did not make my personal top 10 all time list. Like American Graffiti & Fast Times, it is amazing to see all the great actors that were largely unknowns for Dazed and Confused. An excellent choice, do you have a top list of your own?
Jim
Superbad really needs to be on the list. I nearly died laughing at the dick drawing scene.
