Top High School/College Comedies of all time & top in last 10 yrs. Poll & Discussion

I have to add Eurotrip as a GREAT flick that captures backpacking through Europe. It belongs on the college list (even though it takes place between college and high school).

For high school, nothing can ever top the Breakfast club for identifying the archtypes and having fun with them. IMHO, of course. There are other great movies, but that one captured so much.

For college, as a frat guy myself, Animal House will always be there. I can put a real name to every person in that movie - it is nostalgic for me, as well as funny as hell.

Road Trip is on par with Harold & Kumar for me.

And where’s the love for Drop Dead Gorgeous?

Yeah…duh - missed it in there!

My list would go very closely to yours - plus or minus some films. I would also include She’s All That.

I’m 30 years old, and caught it one night on TBS. It instantly transported me back to my high school days, and I spent literally the next two or three days thinking about a certain boy who reminded me of the Freddie Prinze Jr. character.

Instant renewed crush and many happy love fantasies (and maybe some lust ones as well…)

Yes, he gets kicked out of ‘prep’ school because he blew up the lab. He snuck home and the school, unable to find his body, informs his mother that he is dead. Her reaction is what starts his obsession with his own death. Some of his dates are college girls and the fact that he isn’t is school is a reason to make him join the army.

Yeah, at the end of Just One of The Guys, she shows 'em.

I think I need to rent this and watch it again.

I know, I was joking that you had seen the movie. Sorry, just another bad joke attempt brought to you by What Exit?

Nah - Zeppo was a real student, and Harpo and Chico became students to play in the game against Darwin.

Now excuse me, I have to go help Roth wax the Dean.

Swordfish!

I always thought that PCU was a far better college movie. But maybe that’s because Animal House was from before my time.

I sat through the horrible remake only to be disappointed at the end.

Here’s a bunch of movies that probably qualify if anyone wants to put together their own top 10 list. As I have seen all but a few of these, I watch way too many movies.

It’s been mentioned four times and ignored by the OP every time:

SUPERBAD

Oh how I wish I was McLovin’.

At the opposite end of the comedy spectrum, don’t forget the classics: Teen Wolf, Teen Wolf Too, and Zapped.

I thought I responded to Superbad early in the thread, I see I did miss it. I haven’t seen it, so where would you put it on the lists?

Zapped!, I wanted to forget Zapped. Teen Wolf wasn’t bad, I did have that in my OP. I mainly avoided listing sequels I think.

Ellis Dee put together a good list, D.E.B.S. reminded me of an awful effort called H.O.T.S (1979) with a 2.9 IMDB rating. Actually I think it is safe to ignore any movie under a 5.0 IMDB rating.
