Top ten films that probably don’t make anyone else’s list

Which ones? I would put Shaolin Soccer in the place of Kung Fu Hustle on your list, but that’s by a slim margin. True Romance is great too.

I could go with

City of Men

also.

Without looking at other peoples lists:

Joe Vs. The Volcano
The Last of the Mohicans (Daniel Day-Lewis version)
Galaxy Quest
Starship Troopers
Army of Darkness
Bubba Hoptep
City of God
The Frighteners
Hell in the Pacific
The Cruise

The Straight Story
Contact
Shall We Dance? (1996 Japanese)
Gladiator
The Full Monty
The Dark Knight
Groundhog Day
Time Bandits
Brazil
Terminator 2
Yes, if I put this list together tomorrow it would be a different 10 . . .

Oh, yeah. That’s the one. Still, it’s pretty much forgotten, but very entertaining.

These ones.

The Fountain
Perfume
Lord of War
Munich
American Gangster

I’ve not seen any of the others, but I’ll keep an eye out for them and see if I get a complete match-up, now. Oh, I’m also a Shaolin Soccer fan…I just forgot about that one. Shame on me!

Be careful though. Requiem for a Dream is tragic, it gets darker and darker, it doesn’t ever let up. Just so you are forewarned. It’s the same director as ‘The Fountain’. Everyone I know who I have loaned that movie to comes back with a, “Why didn’t you warn me?”, so, you are warned.

Trying to avoid repeats, I’ll add, in no particular order:

Highlander (the first one only)
The Commitments
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Mallrats
Empire Records
Eurotrip
Angel Heart
The Adventures of Robin Hood (Flynn)
(I can’t believe someone already claimed Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid).

Without scrutinizing the other lists:

Big Trouble in Little China
The Driver
Kelly’s Heroes
The Italian Job (the original, with Michael Caine)
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
The Quick and the Dead
Sahara (yep, the one with Matthew McConaughey)
Stripes
The Train
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three

Au revoir les enfants (1987, France)
A Christmas Story (1983, US)
Ciao, Professore! (1992, Italy)
El Norte (1983, US/UK)
Europa, Europa (1990, Germany/France/Poland)
Farewell My Concubine (1993, China/HK)
Koyaanisqatsi(1984, US)
Nobody Knows (2004, Japan)
The Others (2001, US/Spain)
Say Anything (1989、US)

In an attempt to post in the spirit of the OP, I’ll admit to:

Point Break
Road House
Ghost Busters 2
The Wedding Singer
Fifty First Dates
Top Gun
Dirty Dancing
Revenge of the Nerds
Big Trouble in Little China

This was tough to not match any on any other’s lists, but I did my best. In the spirit of the OP, my 10:

**

  1. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
  2. Big Jake
  3. The Thin Blue Line
  4. Day of the Wolves – (check this one out and then watch Reservoir Dogs)
  5. The Longest Yard (the original one)
  6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  7. Suicide Kings
  8. The Bad News Bears (the original one)
  9. Three O’clock High
    10.Smokey and the Bandit**

How could I forget my favorite, I’ve seen countless times film?

Payback

I enjoy this movie every time I watch it. You should too!

Oh MAN, I posted too late because a lot of my good ones have already been mentioned!

Already named:

  1. Point Break (this was the first one I thought of when I read the thread title)
  2. White Chicks (I seriously thought no one else liked this movie, or possibly, that no one else would admit to liking this movie in public)

The rest of my list of movies that I think aren’t overly popular:
3. Dogs in Space
4. Fire Walk With Me
5. Youngblood
6. Can’t Stop The Music (the Village People movie)
7. The Private Eyes
8. Dance Me Outside
9. L’Avventura (very much a cheat, because it is a critically acclaimed film, and in Italy even small children would put this on their own top ten lists, but I’m not convinced it’s frequently viewed in the US; also, I suspect this is the first time this movie has ever appeared on the same list as Can’t Stop The Music)

I can’t think of a tenth that is really in my heavy rotation and meets the requirements of the OP.

This is a cry for help.

No, this is a cry for help.

In the spirit of the OP, no order other than that of the order movies sprung to mind:

10: Goldfinger
9: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
8: Rebecca
7: Excalibur
6: Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion
5: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
4: Dirty Harry
3: House Of Games
2: Midnight Run
1: The Great Race

Well played.

Let’s stop this right here before somebody getsrickrolled.

Hanukkah! Hanukkah!*

Oh, sweet lord.

Savalas. Zadora. Arnaz Jr. Storch.

That’s the kind of line-up you usually need to sacrifice a puppy or two to get.
