Tornado bit me!

However, it was my country shack in the MO outback, and not much damage. However, my childhood town, in Arnold MO, was damaged. The elementary school that I attended seems intact, but many of the old trees were downed. I live in St Charles Co, and a twister passed close to me, but we were spared. Much rain and wind, though, and I am truly surprised, since I live in a wooded area, that I did not see more debris. My sister lives in South St Louis, and they were truly scared, and she said, “Normally I do not worry too much about tornadoes, but it was very very windy, and the house shook.” Just to say that this was a very bad storm, even for springtime in the Midwest and the South, and I fear that our climate is not going in a good direction. Oddly enough today we have this weird notch coming down from the North (looks like a penis, haha), and it is cold today. March is a lion right now.

Many of the folks affected south of us were not in affluent counties. I looked at the videos of the damage in that area, and see many trailers and cheap buildings demolished. Will OrangeFace care…I doubt it, even though I suspect that many in that area voted for him.

You were lucky compared to what happened elsewhere:

At least 35 dead!

My sister lives in north St Louis Co and my brother out in St Charles Co around St Peters. I had to check in with both of them yesterday morning to make sure everyone was OK. They had nothing to report other than some brief power blips.

Many of us get desensitized to these storms because while tornados are very fierce, it is also rare for them to really damage a huge area, as a hurricane does. But this storm produced many many tornadoes and they probably covered a very large area, and we weren’t really believing it until the damage became obvious. Of course, NOAA warned against this days in advance, but there is alot of “can’t happen to me,” bc humans are not worried until faced with a direct threat.
