Tornadoes in Dallas County Texas

I don’t know where to post this so I’m taking a shot in the dark.

I’ve seen several references to Lancaster, Texas in the news but these references don’t really talk about the damage done there.

Lancaster is our families home town and we still have several relatives living there as well as some friends who may still be there. If anyone has any information concerning my home town, I would appreciate any specific information as to the damage to that place.
My sister has talked via telephone to her oldest best friend who now lives in Richardson, which has been outside the danger zone as far was we know; she was in the process of leaving for a shelter when my sister called her. She had little information as to actual damage in Lancaster. The last tornado that hit Lancaster was several years ago; the mother of one of my good friends was killed by a large tree falling into her house.

If anyone has better information concerning Lancaster, I would be most grateful to hear more about it.

Thank you.

I missed the edit window. I hope that any dopers in the immediate vicinity of Dallas/Fort Worth have been spared and or okay this morning.

I do care for those places as well, and for our friends on the SDMB who live in those places.

It occurs to me that people who might be able to provide the information I asked for are most likely to be in situations that precludes their providing me with information. I apologize for putting my concerns ahead of theirs.

Mods, let’s just let this thing be closed; I’ll ask again later.

If you have access to the Internet, why not just visit the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram websites? That’s what I did yesterday afternoon to see how close things had come to my family in Arlington.

I did that but I would prefer some first person input.

Not necessarily, LouisB. I remember after Hurricane Wilma, there were people with relatively little damage, like me, and people with major damage. I got power back after two days, and was online answering questions from people like you. I even did a few road trips to some retirement communities at the request of some people online, taking phone numbers and a charged cell phone with me.

You may get lucky with the thread.
