Tornados! Nashville Area Under Siege! Tenn Dopers Report In Here.

I’m fine - I had 2 inch hail at my place.

StG

I am diku’s friend in Smyrna. No damage here thankfully. I just heard on the news that there were 30-something torandoes touched down in TN today. Holy crap. Gallatin is in so much rubble in places. You know those shots you see of trailer parks whenever there’s a story about tornadoes on the news? Well imagine that except about 3 times the destruction and they are 7000 square foot brick homes. They are just gone.

Here’s footage of the Gallatin damage.

Here is a link to an AP story about the tornados.

Unbelievable .

Keeping my fingers crossed and praying for you all. :frowning:

Yike! Hope all you folks down there do as well as possible… good luck!

Baseball sized hail. Extremely violent. Heading to the closet.

That three mile path stopped about a mile from my house. The weird thing was, the storm system was moving really fast until it hit Sumner county. Then it slowed down and kept getting stronger and stronger. The tornado that hit here was just average size, but it was so damn slow that it had time to mangle everything in it’s path. Hardly anything was blown away, everything just sat there and got pulverized.

I’m glad you’re okay, Batsinma.

Take care, everyone!

When I was eleven I remember taking shelter in our basement from a tornado that went right through our city, Topeka Kansas. This summer marks the 40th anniversary of that event. The Fujita scale had not been created yet, but it’s said that storm would have been an F-5, the highest rating. At the time it was the costliest tornado, in terms of monetary damage done.

Nope. I’m unhurt and the place is undamaged, so no fat insurance check for me. :frowning:

For some reason Max Carnage’s link actually showed Hendersonville but they had it listed as Gallatin.

Here’s most of the damage.

Here’s the actual tornado.

I’m OK.

Lost Net linkage for a while.

Mom, Dad & I are exhausted, but OK.

Still too dark to make checking for damage worthwhile (we’re in the shadow of a hill/forested area).

Hellava Spring. :smack:

How long did the storms last? Glad to hear the Dopers who’ve checked in are OK. Anyone else who hasn’t stopped by yet? Good thoughts headed your way.

GT

 That must have been terrifying. I’m glad to hear that everyone’s safe so far. Sending lots of prayers and good wishes to everyone in the area.

Have all of the Tennessee Dopers checked in?

We’re safe. It was ugly, but no major damage here.

The first line of storms entered Middle TN. before noon. I think there were three main lines. We got hit with the first one around 2:30 I think. Two hours later, it was just in the next county. By 9:00, still stormy but no more tornados.

My sister, cub mistress, is fine, but she thinks her car is totaled, the roof is leaking, and there was damage to her outbuildings as well. A Bradford pear bit the dust, too.

Oh boy. :frowning:

Paypal donation time?

Checking in from Mt. Juliet - we had some severe hail and lots of thunder & lightning and heavy rain, but no really strong winds. My next door neighbor’s truck has been ruined by baseball-sized hail (he was driving down I-65 in Sumner County just before the tornadoes hit).

So far, my friends in Hendersonville, Goodlettsville and Gallatin seem to be okay. A friend of mine is the priest of a church in Hendersonville and as far as he knows, they are okay too.
