GM plant I-240 near Sooner Rd, substantial damage.

Homes and businesses severely damaged.

Why does Moore always get hit so hard? I hope everything is OK out there. . . .

part of the storm track is just a mile away from the May 3, '99 F5 track

Still on the ground, in Choctaw, heading for McCloud, Chandler…
Look out Tulsa

Gary England’s guessing it’s an F4, based on the damage

To be honest, when one gets you, you don’t care if it’s F2, 3, 5, whatever

Tinker AFB damaged. Debris on the runways.

Some of these homes hit were damaged or destroyed by the May 3rd, though the path is not exactly the same.

Looks like I’ll be helping again, volunteer-wise. I have too. I was helped when I was hit, all those years ago.
It may be small towns between here and Tulsa, but it’s a fairly large amount of homes per sq mile between the towns.
GM plant may be a total loss

It’s called Tornado Alley for a very good reason.

Damn, what a mess.

I’ll update y’all when I get a chance, been on the phone…

Fire, Police, Health care, ONG, OG&E workers all being called up tonight.

I’ll stay out of the emergency crew’s way but will be going as soon as I get a certain phone call.

Yeah, I’m a little sad right now, I can’t find my southside freinds as yet and cell phone usage is needed by emergency crews. (Although my Spint service is out now, anyways. I tried it just now)

Watching it right now…
Looks like a half-mile shy of the old path.
:frowning:

Actually, now the police are saying to stay away if not an emergency worker. Makes sense. So, I’ll wait.

(I have some firemen/police/EMT friends, so I’ll know when my skills can be used. Should be a busy weekend.)

Joe K, you’re in Warr Acres, right?

Know any southside Dopers?

Jesus, did you see that pole through the roof?

No southside Dopers, no.

I’ve a few friends of mine and Mom’s over there, and the thing went over where my friends grandfather lives, I think.

Awful. Truly awful.

It missed North OKC and Edmond, where I am. Very similar path to May 1999. New video shows a housing development north and east of Tinker with most homes destroyed. GM plant badly damaged, and a bank right across the highway destroyed completely. Set down in Choctaw as well, no reports yet of damage.

Really bad.

YAY! my family is OK!!! I finally got through!!!

And, ya I know it’s called Tornado Alley for a reason, I just find it odd that Moore always gets hit pretty hard and Norman rarely gets touched. Something to do with the rivers. . .

I got the rest of ya in my thoughts too, I don’t want to see the pictures.

Well, when you find out about friends and relatives, let us know.

Quite frankly, I feel terrible.

It’s a fuckin’ bunch of wind! But, it destroys and hurts and kills.

Just heard from a southside cousin, she’s okay.

This mesoscale discussion from the Storm Prediction Center is pretty damn disturbing. Be safe everyone…
:frowning:

This new video is unreal. Now it’s revealed that a motel (Motel 6?) has been totaled, as well as a Greyhound bus, even more houses, and even the Wendy’s that the stormchaser ate at.

The condition of the area was just described as a ‘war zone’.

That post up there was me, not my daughter’s.

Payne County is in the watch area, but so far nothing’s happened. Sun is shining, feels a little more humid than normal.

We’re still waiting to hear from quite a few friends in the Moore/OKC area.

Hey, I just checked in on the old thread. Our house was just missed by a couple miles, just like 4 years ago. Hope everyone’s ok.

Oh sorry, I didn’t mention in here that I live just west of Moore, on SW 119th. I’ve managed to get in touch with all my friends in the area, and everyone’s fine.

All of SW 149th in OKC/SW 19th in Moore is okay as far as I can tell, but there’s no power to the houses there.

Phone lines just started working again also. I hope you all manage to get in touch with your friends.

Please, let me know if you need anything.
