This is kind of late, but…
An alleged F3 tornado went through my town last Wednesday Oct 24. It didn’t come near my neighborhood, but a lot of my local chat buddies took damage. They live on the outskirts of town.
Here’s news about it. There should be archive stuff there too if you look for it: http://www.wndu.com/news/102001/news_10478.php
I was on the way home from the hardware store when the sky turned a funky urine yellow and the wind was kickin’ up quite fierce. I instantly knew what was coming. I hauled my ass home, as quick as I could. When I got inside, I immediately turned on the tv, then rounded up all five of my cats and tossed them into the basement. I hadn’t been inside my home more than 3 minutes, when the tornado sirens began blaring.
I kept looking out the window, but there wasn’t a whole lot to see, just high winds and leaves flying all over. I didn’t see the funnel. My mother thinks she may have seen it dip down as she was driving home from work. The road she travels was directly in the path of the twister. She’s fine, though. Car’s fine too. No damage in my neighborhood except downed limbs.
My chat friends are all okay, though one’s car took quite a beating. Another was without power for 6 days and lost every single tree on her property.
This was the closest I’ve ever been to being in a twister. Although, a few years ago, I was standing out in front of my house, watching, as a huge storm was kickin up and saw what could be called the “embryonic” stage of a twister. That was pretty dramatic. The whole sky was just one giant swirling maelstrom. I was sure it was gonna drop down, but it never did.
Auntie Em! Auntie Em! Wheeeeeeeee!
